I want to purchase a home weather station. While looking at different models I noticed that the outside temperture range is -4F to +140F. In my area it is common for the winter lows to be -20F or lower. Will these units work in my area or do I need to find a different station? Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forum.  If you want to have readings that accurately reflect the conditions you will need to get a station that measures the temp as low as possible.  My Davis 6152 reads down to -40F. I can't recall it ever getting even close to that here.  I had an OS WMR 968 before this and it only read down to -4F. The temperature here does not get that low very often so it was only a minor problem. So it comes down to how accurate your readings need to be and how often it gets that low.  Good luck!!!

FWIW, I bought some cheap (like under 10 buck!) 433 mhz wireless remote thermos and they work down to -35C.  In most cases it is the battery that is the issue.

What kind of features are important to you, besides temp?   wind? rain? pressure? this would be a big determining factor in what station you would buy.
