Now that I got your attention Smile

I just placed my order for a full on VP2 6163 - Serial WL and the wireless Ane. setup. Although I was sweating bullets hitting the "Order Now" button I am so happy I think I'm going to pee myself! The people at AMbient were also VERY helpful on the phone.

THANKS for all the help in making this decision!

Hopefully come April or so I can order up the Boltek. Need to see what the taxman says Lol.

It should be here by Wed. or Thursday of next week. I will keep everyone posted.

Thanks again guys!

Bobby

P.S. Anybody looking for a decent WMR-968 at a good price?  Dancing

Bobby,

CONGRATULATIONS on taking the plunge  Applause  Dancing

I'm sure Ambient was very happy to get your order too. You will be telling us more about your new "toy" won't you? A few pictures of your setup would be nice too.

Have fun with your early Christmas gift to yourself!

Congrats Bobby.  You'll have fun.

And dont send the os to the curb too quickly.  I still have mine running on vws... and while I tweak my WD web pages... its still my home page.   I am actually going to still use it on my WD pages for pool temp next summer as i dont currently have a way to get that big honking/overpriced Davis probe thermo into my pool so that will be aesthetically pleasing, or not a tripping hazard.

I am surprised how accurate the os is compared to the vp2 (dont tell my wife though).... if it rains more than a mm and with my wind gain at 1.25 the numbers are surprisingly close.

Andrew,

I really was happy with the OS. I did not like the SLOW wind speed updates or the excessive drops of comm from the sensors. It did show to be pretty dam accurate when it did work.

As far as that honking Davis sensor, you can do something similiar to this which is what I used on my parents pool heater sensor. This combined with a PVC T with 1 side threaded works nicely. I used this - http://news.thomasnet.com/fullstory/25586

Congrats on the purchase!!!  I just finished installing mine last week and have been very happy.  I am working on the PC side now.  I am collecting the data but I have a second PC that I will be dedicating for the website.

Bobby,

I'm glad you could finally make the purchase plunge.  That last bit of agonizing over which choice to make is tough.  So now you can enjoy the set up.  Now treat your wife nice after this great gift. Smile  Wink

Almost exactly two years ago I got mine.  Haven't regretted it one second.  And there was no way I was waiting for Christmas to rip that box open.  I was up and running weeks before Christmas!

My 6163 just arrived today from Ambient--can't wait.   Will get the mount set up on the roof--but will wait until Xmas to open the instrument--it is going to be a long wait!  Very Happy

Andrew, you can mount a probe in-line with your pool's plumbing.  That is what I do for my hot tub.

Thanks Guys!!

Maybe I'm paranoid but I ordered it at 10:30 AZ time, everything was showing as in stock and confirmed by Ambient salesman but.....No email with any tracking info and of course they were closed when I checked. Stay calm Bob...... Brick wall .

I just sold the IPOD I had for sale so that is going towards a remote temp probe I'm going to order on Friday morning. That will be my soil temp sensor Smile

So besides the anemometer transmitter, did you also get a remote station or do you plan to get one?  Which remote station are you getting?

Thanks Bobby and Bushman
I might be doing some "plumbing" next spring to track down a leak.  I assume there is a way to do that which wont leak/kill the pressure.

I also had an idea, the wife has always wanted one of those offset umbrella's to provide shade in shallow end/stairs (not that we need shade this past summer), I could attach it to pole, and even hide it up under top?

I keep getting bugged for xmas list items, so I guess I could add.  Worst case I keep using os, and php the reading into my site, and use the davis for soil temp???

Andrew
