Well I just found out that my time on the console still has the old EDT time it it. I never switched it back 1 hour. Is this going to affect anything or is VWS taking care of the time samples, etc. ?

Jim,
I dont believe the os station shares its time with the pc at all.  So you should not have any issues.  I am pretty sure I went an entire summer once without changing the time on the console, since I never really look at it......

Thanks. The reason I am asking is that it seems my rainfall totals are falling short with other stations around me... Everythin inside the gauge lloks good and clean so I don't know what it could be.. Maybe it's really reporting the truth. I may have to get a manual gauge....

Yea Mackbig is correct, the OS clock is not interlinked with VWS.  As for your rain totals issues, if all is clean and level.  I would say they are accurate.  Maybe you are experiencing a seasonal micro-climate type of thing.  I know I see it during the summer storm season.  Another station 5 miles west of me gets more rain, because he is closer to the mountains.  By the time the storms get to me, all of the moisture has been squeezed out of the system.

Sam,
I think I may be getting a "blocking" issue going on due to the placement of my shield relative to the rain gauge.. Most of the recent storms have been driving the rains from an easterly direction which is where the passive shield is in relation to the rain gauge.  hmmmm  Think

Well perhaps while the wife is out Christmas shopping on Friday, perhaps you may need to relocate your rain bucket.

I took a couple of cheap generic plastic manual rain gauges and placed them at different points around the yard, just to make sure that my digital gauge seems to be reading correctly.  In fact I forgot to empty them before  I came into work as well.

Part of it may be the rainfall intensity, too.  When it rains hard, my 968 is more accurate.  But if the rainfall is light to drizzle to mist, my 2315 seems to be more accurate.  Both are compared to a CoCoRaHS gauge.

I have also seen the results Slow Modem reports.  I fixed that once I modified my rain gauge.  :^)

Smile  I've forgotten to change the DST settings a couple of times as well on the console. d'oh!
The PC clock over-rides the console clock...so you're data should be fine, sir.
 Cool
