I just purchased a WMR200A and set it up a couple of days ago.  Is there a device that will connect the main unit to my laptop so I do not have to have the USB cable plugged in continuously?  I played around with the software from Oregon Scientific and found it very confusing.  Maybe it was just me, but is there much better software out there to receive/interpret data from the display unit?

Thank you,

Jay

Only way I know to connect it is via the UBS cable. Yes there is better softeare, VWS and Weather Display (WD), these are not free. For free software you might want to check out Cumulus. If I remember correctly the WMR-200 has a datalogger built in. If so you would not need to leave your computer running constantly. You could turn it on every few days and download the data stored in the logger. If the station does not contain a logger and you are using one of the pieces of software listed above. You will need to leave your computer running 24/7 in order to log data to the software.

yes the wmr200 stores the data to be then downloaded to software when that is run (make sure the date and time on the wmr200 is the same as the PC)
first time you do this, there will be alot of data to download (also note its a one time download)

Sadly Cumulus doesn't support the WMR-200, I wish that it did.  d'oh!
