Am interested in running the WRM968 directly off a 12vdc battery source (solar powered) and was wondering if anyone can provide a current measurement on real world (w/o backlight on).  I understand that the 120vac/12vdc adapter is rated for 300ma, but I'm assuming that is rated high enough to cover the backlight current draw and actual current draw w/o backlight is much lower.

Much appreciated if you have this info.

if I was feeling lucky, I could unplug mine and put it in the "killawatt" to check.   I guess I just blew my ytd rain last week, so at least I know how to fix it, if I encounter a problem.

Thanks Andrew - I was able to get some readings from an existing unit:

162ma with backlight
16 ma w/o backlight = =0.384 amp-hour/day

With this low a current draw, it would be no problem at all to have it powered directly with the solar powered 12vdc power source (direct wired w/o using included 110/12vdc adapter) year round .
