The Great Plains saw its first heavy snow of the year. A single storm that began last night and ended today dumped 15.8 inches of snow on North Platte, Nebraska. That's a record, to say the least!

15.8 inches?!?!?  How does this snowfall compare to other years as to date of first snowfall, depth of first snowfall, ect.  I like to ease into winter a little with a couple 2-4 inchers.  15.8 inches would be a major disaster around here.  I don't think we had that much snow for the 1978 (?) blizzard!

15.8" of snow would be an all time record in Stillwater. 13 in. is record.  The cold is down to here tonight with low temp in the 30's expected but still above freezing.

If this is true.  A small rain gauge heater ain't going to cut it.  Time to bring out the big guns.
Does anybody know where I can rent one of these for about 4 months?  How about some of you retired military guys?
