Question: Went and saw a house yesterday (couldn't afford it anyway) but the owner of the house had an Oregon Scientific weather station that cost around $2000 and was broken. Anyways, despite not knowing what was wrong with it, how much do you think it would cost  (Voting closed: October 22, 2009, 03:26:04 PM)

The questions speaks. And though I don't think it connects to a PC, this would be a nice change from the Acu-Rite/Chaney Instruments junk sitting on my roof.

If this were the price is right... I would bet one dollar... cause the other person went over...

Has OS ever made a station worth/cost $2000.  I know they were double back when Anthony bot his 968... but that is around $600.
Was it a Campbell Scientific?

If it did really cost $2000, it is so old that parts will no longer be available for it.  Spend $500 for the the most expensive new OS ( or the same amount on a great Davis)

Very Happy  I voted >$700, because that represents what you'll spend on a new Davis!
That's what I would do, if I was starting over...

I went for $500 for the same reasons as have been given in the other replies.  Don't know if I would ever pay $2000 for anything from OS Exclamation

He said Oregon Scientific, but I thought it looked more like a Rain-Wise or Davis, though I saw an Oregon Scientific screen on the wall, and something else in one of the bedrooms. Weird. Confusing. Still I believe it's either of what I said above, plus what I thought it could be.

Is he from the carribean?

1 Jamaican dollar = 0.01137 U.S. dollars
So J$2000 equals u$22.74   Laughing

When I was there in 1991 it was about 1 Jamaican Dollar = $0.10 US Dollars.  That is a lot of devaluation in 15 years or so.
