HauteWIND units and Weather Underground
« on: June 26, 2009, 12:44:43 PM »
Users,

At 7:35pm PDT on Wednesday June 24 a change of some sort was made at Weather Underground which has caused data from our HauteWIND HR-IXPWIND units to not get posted to Weather Underground servers.

We have been working with Weather Underground to determine the nature of the problem, but do not have a diagnosis or eta for correction.

The problem appears to be with Weather Underground. Wunderground technical support confirms that their servers are receiving data pushed from our units, but the data is not getting loaded. It appears that RapidFire updates are working.

The current version of the firmware for the HauteWIND device is r1854 and is available on our web site at www.hautespot.net. This version has been shipping for almost a year and there have been no changes or modifications to the systems since then.

We will post updates here as they occur.

We appreciate your patience as we work with Wunderground to fix this problem.

After working with Weather Underground, it was determined that one server in their cluster was "hung" and not properly processing received data from the HauteWIND units. The server was rebooted and now everything is working properly. The server was responding to the incoming data from the HauteWIND units, updating Rapid Fire, but not inserting the data received into the Weather Underground database. There was no way for the HauteWIND unit to know that the data was not getting processed after being sent.

There was no problem at all with the HauteWIND product.

This problem was unique to anyone pushing data and had a persistent connection with keep alive in place. Systems that go down or regularly disconnect from Weather Underground would get routed to a different server upon reconnection. Our only failing was that our systems were too reliable and remained connected persistently.

Thank you for your patience. If you experience any further difficulties, please let us know.

Looks like we're having another problem with Weather Underground.  Data stopped uploading this evening around the same time as before,.
