So I've not been here for a while but I did get lots of good advice from you folks so here's an update on our airport's weather station and web cam. Now I'm trying to figure out what to do next. Lightning Strike indicator? What are some other things I can do?

Just curious who your target visitor is? Is this more for pilots that use the airport or for the general public or both?

Thanks for the reply. That's a good question and I would have to say that I tried to make it useful for the folks that use the airport but I also was trying to get people interested in visiting the airport, pilot or not, to visit the museum. I'm working on the museum's new website now and hope to have it running in the next week. I can't say that the new museum website will be "done" in the next week or so but I hope to have a much better website running soon. Like the airport's website, it will probably keep changing and evolving. I'm curious about your question. Is it too much information? The website that is. Is it confusing? I'd love some feedback! Good or bad. I'm finding that non-aviation folks are using the local weather info in order to see what the winds near Creve Coeur Lake are doing. The weather data from the bluffs in St. Louis County and St. Charles County are often different from the winds at the airport and the nearby lake.

Thanks,

As a boater in the Gulf I understand the people looking for wind data on local lakes. Smile
Sounds like you're trying to appeal to everyone in the community and the pilots. Can't go wrong there.
Maybe add a radar image for the surrounding area. With  software like GR3 you can customize the image to include that lake you spoke of to keep the boaters aware of inclement weather.     Some live wind data with sensors  located near the runways to give pilots a better idea what they are in for. Some general aviation weather reports for the specific  area. Also maybe a live streaming webcam image instead of static.
I understand you have a budget so some of these idea's may not be practical but as you said it's an on going project. Looks good so far.

Ocala, GR3? Can you give me more info? I will Google it to see what I can find. I am still thinking of doing some research on lightning detectors so I will look at that forum topic. We are stuck with a T1 line and we do not have a static IP. I've been told that I should expect to spend hours on the phone with AT&T if I want to set up port forwarding as they don't allow folks like me to change the configuration of their equipment. We hope to have fiber optic lines run to our area in the next year or so and when that happens, maybe we can run streaming webcams. Right now, I'm waiting for two BNC to USB adapters to arrive so I can allow WebcamXP to run two more cameras that are currently streaming to the Lorex PCI card on the same computer that's running the Davis software. The Lorex PCI card is also a DVR security system and It does not play well with the WebcamXP software that runs the two USB weather/webcams. Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it.

GR3 is radar software that is pretty much the standard for anyone wanting to view that type of data. It extremely customizable so you can set it up how ever you want it to look.
There is a thread on this forum for GR3 if you want to look at screen shots or have anymore questions.
