In the manual for VWS it says that the database automatically create a file called xxxxdbase.csv when it resize the database.

My database has passed 20,000 but there was not any file created, it just was resized to 15000, is this a bug or what?

I noticed a couple days ago mine was approaching 20,000, and wondered what it would do.

No, not that either.

I did make a copy of my backup and renamed it 20009dbase.csv, i hope that will work.

I have also sent an email to Ambient and asked them if this is a bug in VWS

one idea is to create the file yourself by renaming a backup copy, and see if that works

I have never done anything special with the dbase files.   I have always since day 1 had a YYYYdbase.csv file in addition to the "active" one.  Its in the same folder as the rest of the data I have a 2005dbase.csv....2009dbase.csv

2005 is tiny as I only started using VWS on Dec 26th that year after getting station as a gift.
the others range from 10-17 meg.

2009 updates every 20 minutes just like the master db.

Ok, then it appears that ED has missed something in the later versions.

I use 14.00p70

Have you tried searching all the VWS subfolders...maybe your active db is located in one, and the yearly ones get dumped somewhere else, in your version. Andrew

Ed have removed that function from VWS, the reason was that some users thought it was too memory consuming.

He can not remember exactly when, but think it was at version 14.00

Yet another reason to stick with 13...  assuming you dont have a station that requires one of the updates...

So that means there is no one place to get all your records for the previous year, or current year after October 5th (assuming 20 minute updates to db)

the only thing that remains is to cut and paste to get a year-wide database

Good news,

I have just received an email from Ed, where he says that he will add this feature again.

One difference is that you will be able to choose whether to use the function or not.  Applause

I looked at the database setting page in VWS V14 p80 but didn't see the feature, when do you think this will be added?

I did ask Ed and he replied that, It may be a couple of months before we have this back in the program.
