It was raining at 1.6 in/hr (instantaneous) at the time. Perhaps they misplaced the decimal point it seems. That is my guess.

I dunno, according to that last one, 88in, you better have your Ark already built!

I’ll bet they’ve created a custom formula to account for the fluffiness of the hail. When it hails on my station it gets all clogged up and won’t report until it starts to melt

So many features, so many bugs.  I do like the effort though.  About an hour ago it propagated a cell showing it moving NE that historically was more stationary.  It dissipated before it even reached the 15 min mark.  This cell was on the edge of a line of adjacent cells where the North ones had less longevity than the ones South.  A miss on that particular one but it's hard to predict the weather.

I'm seeing them too. These warning cones are coming out of marginally rainy (completely green) areas that are COMPLETELY innocuous. I called someone under one of them, and the response was "Whaaaa?" The listed "precipitation rate" is many many inches. Um, per week, maybe? Per month? The listed echo tops are a few feet. Duh? So people's feet are getting wet but their heads aren't?

I was seeing a Tornado Track showing in southwestern Wisconsin near De Soto. NWS wasn't showing any warnings and it has now dropped from the map.

You know what is worse than no data?  Bad data.  This is hardly "progress".

Personally I see all of the data being currently collected thru WU is suspect, with missing blocks of station data reports and incomplete posting of available information. I also feel that WU's obvious lack of resources would be better spent on resolving the current issues rather than trying to enhance their Pride and Joy called “WonderMap”. Maybe IBM could utilize the same information that the talking heads at the Weather Channel use instead of trying to reinvent the wheel. The Weather Channel is already utilizing the information collected from WU on their maps.

No one should rely on any private online weather information for their safety in times of imminent danger.

That being said, IBM has chosen to use us as beta testers for their fractured WU web site. I realize that creating “new” web sites is a challenge and trying to process a world full of streaming data from thousands of sources can be problematic. However dumping the previous process prematurely and without regard to the repercussions is no way to run a business and IBM doesn't seem to be getting the message. As beta testers we should feel the responsibility to report issues that we see.
