Weather maps
« on: June 18, 2019, 11:04:03 PM »
Just trying to expand my understanding of weather maps. I know the markings for warm fronts, cold fronts and the indications showing which way they are headed. Reading NWS discussions there are mentions of troughs and ridges but I not sure how they are indicated on maps. Wundermap sometimes shows dotted lines. The WU map on my android sometimes shows brown solid or dotted lines and today I am seeing a very fancy version, see attached. Can anybody help?

Thank you for the direction to this site. Very informative and it will be a good reference. Drylines seem to be quite pesky if they want to be however they don't normally appear in my part of the country. It seems that my Canadian friends have been very helpful thru a lot of my life! Thanks again.
