You can also buy a pre-built one. Saves you the work too.

https://www.amazon.com/Ambient-Weather-WEATHERBRIDGE-Universal-Compatible/dp/B00FPPYM7M/

That may seem like a crazy price to pay but it comes with something a self built Meteobridge doesn't have. It includes a $150 license to upload to Ambientweather.net. With Ambientweather.net you can not only have another nice online service to use but your station gains Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant capabilities.

Sure you can add this Ambientweather.net license to a self built Meteobridge but it will be cheaper in the long run to have just gotten the WeatherBridge instead.

No wrong choice here if Ambientweather.net is not of interest. But better to be informed and have all the options before making a purchase decision.

Good to know. How much is the Ambient Weather license if bought own it's own?

$160 USD. Bit extreme IMO, but their choice. Probably that high to strongly encourage hardware sales from them.

shame your not here in istanbul would happily give you one for free but sending one from here will introduce a tarrif even it has no value.. ambient addon at an additional $150 or price hiked for inclusion at time of purchase for use of ambient weather is definitely a WTF another cloud scenario.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00634PLTW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

No longer sold.

Click on buy options, $22.79 & free shipping.  You will have to pay $75.00 for the software.

HA HA from a new seller with zero feedback? No thanks...I have been down that road before. I will keep looking.

Does anyone know if i will need a USB hub to use with it? I have a davis USB logger. If i need a hub which one works with the TL-MR3020?

How does it store data if there is no SD card?

Davis loggers are strictly USB 1.0
The mini routers are all USB 2.0
So yes you need a small, inexpensive, un-powered USB 2.0 hub

From that same Amazon link, one of the 3rd party seller's is Ambient... Might already by allowed on their network.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00634PLTW/ref=mw_dp_olp?ie=UTF8&condition=new

The highs and lows for the day, month, year, and all time are all stored on Boris's server, so even without an SD card it any meaningful storage, it can save it's data to some extent indefinitely.

Sorry i do not know who Boris's is?

I was trying to figure out where Meteobridge stores your weather data since the mini router has no hard drive. I mean what happens if you do not upload your data to WU etc and ONLY keep the data on the Meteobridge itself then reboot the Meteobridge would it lose the records it previously kept? If not does it re-download them like what if your mini router broke.

I planed to simply login to the Meteobridge to view my data BUT it sure would be nice to see it in other forums, my own website, ambient weather.net etc

This thing has so many options it boggles the mind.  \:D/

$32 for a min router
$75 for the fee of Meteobridge
$149.99 ambient weather fee
$8 for a usb hub
$264 total cost

suddenly the one from Ambient Weather does not see like a bad deal IF it already has a license for Meteobridge and ambient weather itself i can not find any info on the $150 fee to use there service.

Boris is "Docbee" on the forum; the  inventor of the Meteo* family.

If you get the Ambient  thing (ripoff IMHO) you get access to their network and all the others.  This is all in the Wiki/help files.  There is limited data storage in the router (the DIR505 excluded) so you either upload or use the Port 22222 passthrough and run PC software or load to an SQL database.

The $160 upgrade for ambientweather.net https://www.ambientweather.com/amwevwamweac.html.

As I said, they only charge that much to encourage their own sales, which is pretty messed up. If they took data for free like pretty much everyone else, then you'd take $160 off the price of their version of MB and your total down there. Personally, I would choose to just not send data there in the first place....

All the data in this screenshot is stored on Boris's (the software creator) server and is automatically downloaded from his server during boot.

Also, if you have a website, you can upload to a template site like the one I develop, HomeWeatherStation. There are also others like Meteotemplate, but I'm obviously partial to the one I develop, lol.

You can also do what I do and setup an automatic export of all the data to a MySQL database so that you have a complete and in-depth copy of everything your station records.

https://www.ambientweather.com/amweatherbridge.html  Google is your friend.

It's safe to say most here think it's a rip off. I'm not sure why since if i where to buy my own hardware it would cost more but yes $150 is a lot.

I can never find any info on the wiki, i search for passthrough and get 0 results.

$160 is not much when you consider the amount of work that went into developing Ambientweather.net and the years of service that investment will cost to maintain and for you to keep enjoying.

For some it isn't worth it as it will seem like YAWN (yet another weather network.) But for others like me you see the benefits of the various weather networks and you gain something from each one. For me Ambientweather.net the benefit is to be able to talk to Alexa and get the weather report from not just that moment from any date I ask for. Yet another benefit is the ability to have multiroom sensors and their history. Then there are new sensors like PM2.5 that just came out. Just because you may have a Davis system does not mean that you can't also have an Ambient console with extra room and PM2.5 sensors reporting to Ambientweather.net.

The best part is that you have options. If Ambientweather.net still doesn't interest you then go the DIY path and leave out the Ambientweather.net license and save money. But if you want Ambientweather.net then get the Ambient WeatherBridge (what they call their pre-built Meteobridge) that has not just Ambientweather.net license but also Meteobridge license.

Don't forget that regardless the Meteobridge software upgrades will stop after 2 years unless you renew for 19 Euros for an additional 2 years of updates. This is optional and it's up to you if you want to continue getting updates with new features and bug fixes or if you are happy with whatever version you are on at that moment. The Ambientweather.net license does not expire and has no renewal required to keep using.

All the data in this screenshot is stored on Boris's (the software creator) server and is automatically downloaded from his server during boot.

Are you sure that the data is saved to Meteobridge.com servers? From my understanding yes the software gets downloaded on boot as it runs on top of OpenWRT, but the data is saved to the Meteobridge's local limited storage. UPDATE: I have been corrected in follow up post.

The data is not much as there is no true history. It is just highs and lows. The Meteobridge's purpose (standard version) is to just be a facilitator to send the data everywhere you need; online services, website templates, SQL, and it handles a webcam and alerts.

One of my favorite features of the Meteobridge is its simple and secure remote access via Meteobridge.com if you enable that feature with just a check mark. Easy as no network redirection and firewall ports to mess with and no need for static WAN IP nor DDNS. Not that I don't know how to do those things but it's got to be appealing to some people. Also makes it easy for Boris to help troubleshoot issues. I've used it to help Boris develop new features, support new hardware (GW1000) and squash bugs I've discovered.
