Map display on wxnws-details.php
« on: April 26, 2019, 01:07:40 PM »

Would it be terribly difficult to change the maps used on the wxnws-details.php page to OSM or another map provider instead of Google?  I just kind of discovered it by accident because I have the page set to only display the maps when polygon data is received for a warning -- and got hit with the "Is this your page?" message because I dont have billing enabled with Google.

Interesting you bring this up, I too have just recently had the same experience.  Either changing the map or deleting it would not be a bad idea, will wait for others to chime in.

I would think removing your Google Map key should do the trick in terms of not making the map appear.

Look for $googleAPI = in your nws-alert-config file, and possibly in your Settings.php file if you are using the Saratoga template.

It’s not a problem to turn the map off — there is a setting in the config for that script not to display it. I’d like to change it over to use OpenStreet maps like some of the other pages have been converted over to do.

The changing of the map may be on Ken's radar, as I believe he is the one maintaining this script now.

Thanks for the info Rick, I did not see that setting in the config file.

Yes, I've got a change to use OpenStreetMaps for the nws-alerts script set on my platter.. (there's a lot on that platter), so no ETA on when it might be completed at this time.  Just turn off the Google Map for now if you don't have a key.

No worries Ken.

Also just to clarify - I do have a key yet kept getting the "Is this your page" message, it actually just started showing up recently.  I did turn off the map function as mentioned.
