It has been awhile since we had rain here, but today we had 2 showers. In both cases WU reported the rain amount as the rain rate and the period as lasting an hour, when the reality was both were just 5-10 minute long showers at rates much higher than WU reported. I have verified that all the other networks to which I report are picking up the rain rate correctly. I also have verified that the WU is doing the same on ALL the stations in my area.
I am curious if anyone else has seen this error. Not sure exactly when it crept into their code but I DO know that that earlier in the Spring it was correctly showing the rain rate. I have reported the problem to WU for all the good that will do.
