Envoy Clock error
« on: November 20, 2016, 08:10:43 PM »
Just a general observation re the clock/time keeping of an Envoy. Setup 21/11/12, decommissioned 20/11/16, was never connected to since setup, time difference was a little under 5 minutes behind ~ 75 seconds per year.

Mine is even worse.  I mean seriously - how hard is to  have a RTC that comes close??  A ten dollar wrist watch from Walmart keeps better time.

I even posted here about a year ago on how ridiculous the clock's accuracy was. I think my Timex from the 70's was more accurate, and that wasn't even quartz.

Samething here: Envoy8X clock needs resetting almost monthly. Davis should look into a more accurate clock-generator chip!

Or, optimally, include a WWVB "Atomic Clock" receiver chip! If Casio can sell a $35 wristwatch containing one, surely (Shirley) Davis™ could include one in their "...Professional..." consoles! And, FWIW, my 'old' LaCrosse WS8610 wireless recording wx-station had WWVB "Atomic Clock" built-in...over 10 years ago!    (Davis, you listening?)

WWVB chip: $3-$4 http://www.kb6nu.com/building-a-wwvb-receiver-episode-2/

Wacky thought here for Meteobridge users:  could MB somehow backpropagate the WWW time to the console?  WL does it IIRC.  And don't call me Shirley!  :)

Unless someone knows better, WL can only let the console set the PC, not the other way around. Not well thought out if you ask me.

WD can sync the console/envoy time with PC time.
