Bushman, I'm pretty sure if you remove batteries and power before beginning a firmware update, that your update won't get very far at all and if you remove power in the middle of the update, then you will be in the market for a replacement console or Envoy.

The person who wrote that line, "and ensures that no EEPROM or FLASH writes are in process when the power is removed" must have copied some of that from the logger installation directions and simply added it to the updating procedure.  Obviously that person has never actually carried out an actual firmware update in either device.

People always talk about the weather, but they never do anything about it.  Not me.  I'm gonna measure it.  www.tceweather.com

heheeh...  I know.  Man, those instruction bite.  BTW, if you have a USB  logger, the FW could infact  be updated without the power cord or batterieis since USB has 5 v on the  bus.

Like you said "that person has never actually carried out an actual firmware update in either device".

For the VP2, just do steps 1, 2, and 3, Don't remove pwr, Press/hold DONE to bring console out of setup, and then update the clock.  Restart VWS/WL.

I was still using version 1.60. Shocked
Guess I need to keep up on these updates.
Worked as advertised, just had to reset the clock.
