When I clicked on the link you gave-it talked about google maps and Java.

WU quit using google maps a few weeks ago. A lot of changes to wundermap too.
There is a thread about it.  http://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=30106.0

So I would just go to the WU site and click Wundermap to see the new version.

Its like a breakup.   Its not you. Its WU.

You can't phase me-I teach Middle School.
It's not you-It's WU.

The Maps for Work client ID included in the script load is invalid, expired, or the current address loading the Google Maps JavaScript API has not been added to the list of authorized URLs.

Interesting comment by Aardvark :)
I really liked the way it looked with the google maps presentation, the contrast made it easy to read. Now with that link I posted the whole map loads perfectly and can see the weather info and everything then that white screen appears over it.

Before I always had the www. comment at the front of the url and found about a month ago it started showing the regular map presentation instead of the google maps. I read a bit about it and found by typing the "api" over the www it started working again perfectly then as you said a few weeks ago I was presented with this white screen.

I read a bit more and ended up registering with www.getsatifaction.com -api services which this code now appears on my wunderground menu drop down / weather api for developers page but still no weather page using google maps.

Would really appreciate anything on this.
Many thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave,
no doubt Google Maps were better and Im sure WU would not change it if it wasnt for the changes Google made in terms of the API keys.

See my posts in this thread:

Thanks for that. So registering with api was a wast of time...?

Hi,
not sure what you mean, the point is, the API registration must be done by the webmaster, not you as a user.

In this case it is WU that needs to register (or would need to register) the API and get a key. And you then have a daily limit for free and if you want more you have to pay google some fee. So if for example you had your own webpage, you would need that key. But the error will not fix itself if you as a user register, the code must be inserted in the source code of the page.

WU obviously has lot of views so would probably not be ok with the daily limit (for a regular user it is absolutely sufficient, it is 25000 map loads per day), so rather then paying relatively absurd amount, they decided to dump Google maps... but there really is nothing you as a user can do.

Thanks, I must have been reading too much.
When I subbed the "api" for the "www" a month back it worked perfectly.
When it stopped working I followed a link from WU menu to "Weather API for developers".
This took me to a page where I registered on a WU API site.
I now have a registration key that appears on the "Weather API for Developers" page".

That's were all that came from......

The main reason for liking the Google Earth so much is the green background made the perfect contrast for the satellite layer, now very difficult to disseminate.
