Poor planning on my part. I am using 2 large usb drives and would like to have weatherlink send data to one of thoses. However I did not configure that when I set it up . I am currently sending data to the resident hard drive which is too small and filling rapidly. Is there any way to fix this problem now without loosing data.

I am pretty sure you should be able to move your "station" folder from the WeatherLink directory to a new location and then just open it from the new location.  To move your station folder:
1.  Close WeatherLink
2.  Navigate to the install directory of WeatherLink
3.  Find your station folder, it will be named what your station name is
4.  Copy that folder to the location you want to store your data in.  (You may want to temporarily leave your station folder in its current location and rename it to something like stationname-old.  You can remove that folder once you are sure everything is working with the new configuration.)
5.  Open WeatherLink and choose File->Open Station.  You should be able to navigate to the place you put your new data.

I have not tried this out, but looking how WeatherLink is set up, it should work.

I appreciate the input. I tried this out and the station would not start. I suspect that maybe I need to move some other files as well. Anyone else done this yet.

The other thing you could do is:
1.  Save off your station data
2.  Uninstall WeatherLink
3.  Install WeatherLink to your USB drive
4.  Copy your Station data into the new WL install directory
5.  Try to open the station from there

Can software be installed on an external hard drive?

It is a temporary location until school reopens.  My school will be closed at the end of the year. Evil or Very Mad
My home is the temp location until everything settles in the district. Evil or Very Mad

I would think that an external hard drive would be fine.  Thumbdrives might not work because they are recognized by windows differently than external hard drives (which are recognized the same as internal hard drives).

You may find that helpful too
