No it is not a PTZ. Its a Digital Camera that is placed in the window. I live out in the country so I hardly get any type of reflective light but it does pretty good for what little light I get. The software is called VM95. You can get it from http://www.video-monitoring.com/about_VM95.htm

There's a seriously long thread on this general topic at weather-watch (which appears to be down now) if I recall correctly, that got me to use an old Canon point&shoot as a hi-res webcam. Unfortunately I can't use VM95, but Canon has their own program to control the camera from a computer, not as many features though... I cobbled together a few more programs to allow me to place weather data on the photo and FTP it to my website... I turn it off at night though...

I'll bet you can find that thread at weather-watch by searching for "VM95"...

Wow Jiles, those are some great images! If you were concerned about night images, this is surely the route to go as I have not seen a camera provide such a crisp picture.

I was thinking about a camera for the live video stream but now I'm thinking if it is even necessary. Being new to this, I don't know if there will be a benefit for me to use live video. I was thinking about it just to add another facet to the weather station.

Any pro's/con's for live video stream vs still images every 1, 2, 3, etc. min?
