I know the upgrade to VWS 14 does not offer anything new for our hardware, but have the general improvements been better for us? or not? I keep having this itch to upgrade.

I dont think there are many 968 takers on this. from the list in the version history, unless you have an ftp issue highlighted, would not say its worth it. No new features, graphs, etc. http://www.ambientweather.com/versionhistory.htmlAndrew I know the upgrade to VWS 14 does not offer anything new for our hardware, but have the general improvements been better for us? or not? Yeah I have been the victim of the "poor" ftp issues, and I use a 3rd party program now for my FTPs.

Yes, I upgraded to the 14 version (latest p). No problems here. Also the VWS FTP FTP works fine for me. I use the file upload portion and NOT the directory upload....

Just went to your site, how do you get those quick updates on the main page not using weather display?

MY guess would be no. He's said he is using saratoga weather AXAX scripts which use the wflashfiles. These are created by VWS. So I would say all that you need to do is upload these files and the script reads them.

Anthony's got it.... I used to use WeatherFlash but don't anymore; However, VWS creates the weatherflash files that the AJAX read and update the screens by.

Jim, I was hoping that there was a way to use the weatherflash files with Ken's WD PHP templates. I like the look much more than the VWS templates. But Ken was commenting in another thread just yesterday that it would be possible but very hard to adapt his WD PHP templates to the VWS files. I stayed away from the AJAX template because it looked just like the VWS page I already had, and with my moderate changes I have made to my page, did not want to recreate just to get faster data uploads...
However if you used the AJAX templates as a basis for data on your very impressive site, I may have to take another look. Hopefully I will have time over the holiday to work on my site, after hooking up my boltek <insert fingers crossed smiley face here>

I have been meaning to update to the latest version..providing it does offer a better ftp client situation.. Everything else seems to be doing as well as my hosting will let it do Wayne www.smythweather.netCW8217

mackbig, Actually it was very easy to implement using VWS and AJAX.. I was quite surprised myself in the little amount of time it took. There are so many people using the CarterLake templates witht the AJAX script but had already design my own layout as such. I just needed a method to implement the rapid updates that the AJAX scripts provided.

So are you using the weather flash programs, I am confused. You can use the free demo version of Weather Flash to get the scripts needed. That's how I done it. I think you could well do it without it but it is sort of a shortcut to get the extra files needed in the proper positions to make it work.

I run a WMR968 system and, as I've posted elsewhere in the forum, have found v14 to be another VWS version that results in repeated hangs of the software. Here I think I'm collecting data as always, only to be surprised again and again that VWS is not updating.
VERY aggravating.

I have a WMR968 and recently upgraded to VWS 14.00. I have had no issues whatsoever. I did the upgrade when I moved to another computer. It is a dual-core quad processor and VWS never hangs. I never had an issue with VWX hanging on the other PC either with 13.

I just upgraded from 13 to 14 and everything was slick!! So far it is updating everything fine.. I haven't configured Weather Bug and probably will not. Our PWS data will be in the back side of things there by default and without causing them (Weather Bug) lots of grief from commercial broadcast it'll need to stay there The software has been improved quite a lot as far as updating user friendliness is concerned! So far 2 thumbs up...well make that 1 my left one is still fairly stiff and sore

Ok thanks, what P Version are you using? P49 is out now. I am waiting to see if the Hourly rain issue in it is fixed. I am hoping MadAL will get me a screenshot of that "menu" Change. or perhaps you can. http://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=3056.0

I have a 968 using v14, P35 I think (I'm at work so I can't check it)(I didn't upgrade, that was the version I started with). I did start the download of p49 before I left for work (it takes a while to download on dialup with the stations uploading, too). But I work a 12-hour shift, so it should be done when I get home in the morning. Anyways, the VWS has been working ok as far as getting data from the 968 and sending it to WU (although it doesn't show a rainfall rate). I don't have a web page or anything like that.

I have never had any real problems with the software except if my computer reboots. Then it's a pain in the BUTT to get the Communications working again. Otherwise - it has run like clockwork for 3 years.
