I had the same thing.  It's sam2004gp's web site, somehow just by reading a thread you get prompted.  20 times to escape, one time.  I thought I accidentally clicked his link.  I just pm'd him thinking it was just his site, then saw this thread.

If I recall correctly, I think one of the prompts popped up on me when I was here:

I was getting it when I hit the second page this link
http://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=2619.msg18855#msg18855

but I think sam2004gp has fixed the problem. I also got it when I click on the link in the message to the web site.
that is the best I can do with the problem.

Official Apology and Explaination.
 Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed
Sorry that I caused heartache for everyone and the forum.  I was tinkering last night with the permissions of the folders in my website, I was unaware that they had an effect on wxforum.net.  I guess since my sig pic was in some of the threads mentioned above, is what caused the issue.  It appears when they called upon my Signature image/php script in a subfolder of my website, and that folder had tinkered/screwed up permissions, that is what caused the requested user/password issue here on wxforum.net.

^^This same issue shut me out and all end users out of my website for about an hour as well. I went to supper after I had changed the permissions, and when I came back to check my NWS forecast, I was like WTF! d'oh! Embarassed

I promise to try to never to do it again or at least remove my signature from my profile the next time I try to tinker with them again.  Embarassed Embarassed

I feel like a dumba** for letting this happen.

Sam:

Don't worry about it. No harm done except as you said,  Embarassed    Laughing

Your explanation makes sense. I thought it was probably somehow related to your signature, but I couldn't figure out how. But now that I've read your explanation, it makes sense.

Take care!

Sam,

I did the same thing not too long ago myself right after I switched over to E-Rice and changed to a different ftp uploading utility program.

I wonder what this setting will do was my last thought.  Think

Completely killed my website and came close to locking myself out of it all together until it dawned on me what those settings do.   d'oh!  It was a very bad idea on my part to click OK when it asked me if I wanted to set all files to the same setting. I had to go back in to the individual files and reset them.  Fortunately I still had a copy of my website running at Tripod to give me a diagram of how to reset the permissions.   Rolling Eyes

Live and learn..   Laughing
