This will be my first end of year with a weather station. Is there anything I should do at midnight on the 31st of December in preparation for 2009?

Alan.

Last year was my first "year end" and everything worked without a problem.  I will back-up all of my VWS folder sometime on the 31st just to be on the safe side.  Here in Oregon I am more interested to see if the State will succeed in getting all of the patrons of the bars and clubs to "butt-out" at the stroke of midnight.

The only thing I can remember is you hve to clear the rainfall memory..But this may take care of itself. someone else will have to chime in here with regards to the OSI WMR-968 and such....

With the OS WMR-968 stations you have to clear the rainfall memory at midnight. I'm sure it would be similar with the 100 & 200.

Alan.

This is my first as well.  I plan on doing a complete hard drive backup image of the entire weather station computer and burn that to a dvd, during the 31st. I will then set up a scheduled windows task to shutdown the machine at 11:55 PM in case I am partying to hardy to remember.  I already do incremental backups twice a day every 12 hours to a second harddrive

Earlier this year, I had an issue with my rain amounts (who don't with VWS right), so I also plan on clearing out the "calibration adjustment" in VWS as well in conjuction with my console.

Also I plan on physically disconnecting my internet connection while I reset VWS, so that it won't transmit incorrect data to wunderground and weatherforyou.com while I battle the rain reset procedure.

Then I need to add the VWS htx/html entries in my webpages to start displaying data for the month archive of January and then year archive of 2009.

Sam, Thanks for pointing out the offset. Must remember to remove it if you have one. If no precip is forecast. Sometimes I've been known to not reset my console until the next morning. But It is best to do it right at 12:00am.

This will also be my fist new year with a weather station.

Is there anything to watch out for with the Davis VP2? Will the yearly rainfall, evaptranspiration etc reset itself?

I will stay awake just to check that it does and see in the new year as well.

As long as you have the rain season begin date set in the console to Jan 1, it will reset at midnight.
