ALL,
I am using the AJAX scripts from saratoga-weather and this seems to be working fine until I noticed that I have to reset VWS from time to time because the wind speeds do not update as quckly as when I reboot VWS. Let me clarify.....

When I start VWS, my website is updating every 10 secs, just as I have set up in the FTP transfer for the wflash and wflash2 files. After an undetermined amout of time, the wind data doesn't seem to update as often as it did, although other data seems to be updating. My timestamp of the last report is updating so I don't see that hanging.... If I restart VWS then the wind data starts updating frequently.... Very Strange...

Which version of VWS are you running? I am still on 12.08p11, and recently started using the StartWatch program that was mentioned in the old forums to launch and restart VWS. I have set it up so that it shuts down and restarts VWS any time it gets above 55MB RAM. When VWS first launches it is using about 30MB, but the longer it runs, the more memory it consumes - and - the slower it responds. I have watched this happening by noting the time on the Broadcast Page gradually "loosing time" compaired with both the PC Clock and the Console time. Left alone, the difference continues to grow until around 4-5 minutes difference, VWS would freeze (and the dreaded recdate corruption would occur). Mind you, this is a very slow process - sometimes VWS would run for weeks before it reached this point. But - it always seemed to happen in the wee hours of the morning, or when I was out of town Wink.

So, since I downloaded and began using the StartWatch program, I have had no further problems at all. I'm not at all sure that 55 MB is the magic number - I just picked something larger than the starting footprint and it seemed to work for me. I am still using the free version of Startwatch, since I never could get anyone there to reply to my request to upgrade to the registered version. The free version is fully functional, except that it will only monitor and control a single program, whereas the registered version does not have that limitation.

So far I have not seen that in my wind readings but I just started really using the AJAX a couple weeks ago.  It could be a result of using the ftp function to transfer the data since that has always been on the quirky side in VWS for a lot of people.  I used ftp for testing but have now switched to php uploads for it with the new web host.  Twice now I have found the php transfers to stall out.  But it was always about 5 hours after I had been in the VWS WeatherFlash adjustments and then did not restart VWS after I was done making changes.

.... I'm not at all sure that 55 MB is the magic number - I just picked something larger than the starting footprint and it seemed to work for me. ...

With the V14's StartWatch is showing around 80Mb so I have the cutoff at 150Mb.  The newer versions have gradually increased in the average usage for me.  But I'm also working them a little harder now then I did at first with more uploads, rapid fire, and .php updates.  One thing I have found if you set the cutoff too low and get in there making changes in settings, it can cause it to exceed the preset limit if it is too low.  WeatherLink is the same way.  I opened up a help file in it one day and bloop, it was gone and restarting.   d'oh!  As a result I sometimes turn off monitoring while I'm making changes to avoid a false trigger.

Have you tried changing your wflash to update on a quicker time interval to see if you notice any difference?
