Installing VWS V15.00
« on: March 22, 2014, 05:35:47 PM »
I am trying to get the VWS V15.00 installed correctly, however the manual says in Getting Started 5.1 that I need to run setup.exe. There is no setup.exe anywhere in the vws folder. Is there something wrong with the file or is it that the manual is that badly written or out of date?

Do you have a zip file or an .exe file?

When I downloaded the recent version of VWS (v15) from the Ambient site {http://www.ambientweather.com/do30tr.html] it was an executable file - i.e. it ended in .exe.  Just double clink on the file and it will run the install.

Edit - the file you get from the download sit is  vws_install.exe  - this is the install program to run.

I believe you are correct. It doesn't help us to do things when the manual is not up to date. How many other things are wrong in it?  I have been playing around with it for several days now and not getting very far. If I don't get it up and running and uploading to my website by the time the trial runs out, well, that will be all she writes.

Updated manuals for VWS are essentially non-existent. Ed hasn't posted an updated manual since 06/19/2009. That was always one of my gripes. He makes changes to the software but those changes never get documented in the manual. The current manual can be found here:
Don - W3DRM - Emmett, Idaho --- Blitzortung ID: 808 --- FlightRadar24 ID: F-KBOI7
Davis Wireless VP2, WD 10.37s150,
StartWatch, VirtualVP, VPLive, Win10 Pro
--- Logitech HD Pro C920 webcam (off-line)
--- RIPE Atlas Probe - 32849

Yup, that is the very same manual I have. Thanks for letting me know that it is the most current one.
