Hi Folks,

Thought I would start a thread for those that don't have the time to look or hunt the net for weather related instruments, they think they need.

Items may be advertised by others, not involved with the WXforum or anything to do with weather at all .  The items may be for sale directly or at auction, be it live or such as eBay.

The items should be weather related, please use this thread for it's intent only.
Use the reply to post what you have found and may be of interest to others.

When the item has been sold, please remove your post from the thread.

I am sure we will see some very unique and interesting weather related items, as well as this will help others find what they thought they needed  Dancing.

Arthur:

I've been watching these posts of NiceBill's. I haven't bid on any of these items (yet Wink), but it's interesting as I'm learning of other instruments I'm unfamiliar with. However, I don't understand your comment. Would you care to elaborate? Thanks.

Regards,

Kevin...

Fortin Barometer [Griffin & George Ltd] With Case

This item has been sold.  It was a steel, you can't build the cabinet today for the price it went for.  If no one in this forum, groop bought it, no sense in me listing any more of this type, as it seams there is no interest.  What a buy. Brick wall

I appreciate you pointing out all these cool items, but I can't really spend extra cash this time of year. I still have three small children at home(well my oldest is 15 and 6 foot 2, so he isn't so small....) and with Christmas and a birthday right around the corner, they are the focus of my extra money right now. Even if no body gets the items you post, people can still learn whats out there. I know I check this thread every time I see a new message posted.

Not pointing fingers, I know what the holidays are. We have over 1,000 members and at least some 1,000 guests that look in. Just wondering if any one in the group bought it.  There's a lot of old farts out there besides me.

I appreciate the postings Bill. It's interesting to see what old weather iron looks like. I'm looking specifically for an old Forestry Rain Gauge like this:

http://www.novalynx.com/260-2520.html

but not new. It'll complement the NWS Standard Gauge I got from you, and my Stratus.

Hey Rikostan,
At least that little one hasn't started eating yet. Just wait another 6 months or so. I called my youngest Punk Kid until he got bigger than me. Now at 21, 6-5, 240#, its just SIR.

LOL George. He is already 280lbs at 6 foot 2. He IS a little chunky, but he also wears a size 14 and a half shoe and his legs are friggin huge. He is very wide too, but not fat, just very, very large boned. I am only 6 foot and 220lbs, so he is quite a bit bigger than me already. People keep telling me his growth will slow down, but it hasn't yet. I figure he has a solid two more years of growing at least.
I can still make him cry with a look!

The really scary thing is, my youngest was 3lbs heavier(even 10lbs) at birth, and is way bigger than my oldest was at 6.  He is in 1st grade, but already bigger than all the third graders in his school.

Not sure why all three of my kids are so tall, nobody in either of our families is that big. I just wish they had football around here for the kids to play!

Bill, I didn't feel you were pointing fingers, I just wanted to make sure you didn't stop posting these.

Man, take a lesson from Tiger Woods father. Retire! Move to Texas or Pennsylvania where the kids turn Pro in the 5th grade and let them support you. Anyone that sires three like that deserves to kick back Rolling Eyes

Shocked Sheesh... If I could only find one or two items at yards sales a year that would sell like that I would no longer bother going to the rock pile every day.   d'oh!

I hear you, Mark.

I've become interested in a certain antique item in my professional field (not weather related). I've heard of a few (very few) people getting lucky and stumbling upon one at garage sales and getting one for $3-10. As I've watched them on eBaY (or according to Weird Al: "the world-wide garage sale") over the past 3 weeks, it seems that they sell for more and more every day. The high bids run anywhere from $800 to over $1500. I guess I'm just going to have to accept the fact that I'll never own one on my salary. Sad

You don't suppose the government.... never mind d'oh!.

Awesome, conga rats Bill!! I know we enjoy ours. I think it is in an area that is just to warm, so we don't get a lot of activity, but I have already staked out a perfect spot in the new house.
