I recently had some wires chewed though on a data line and had to diconnect the sensors, follow that episode on 9/1/08 the daily.html continues to repeat 9/1/08 (reminds me of Ground Hogs day) any ideas on what might cause this or how I can fix it?
See below.
Date Wind Dir Hi Lo Wind Spd Hi Lo Wind Gust 9/21/2008 248 338 0 8 114 0 13 9/1/2008 0 338 0 11 114 0 14 9/22/2008 248 338 0 8 114 0 12 9/1/2008 0 338 0 11 114 0 14
Thank you in advance.

114mph??? Are your numbers messed up anywhere else?
I would look at the daily.htx file and see if it is corrupted.

Really windy on the mountain .......
Just kidding ...the 114 is because this is a remote cabin site that I have the computer auto reboot everyday at 9:00 am. This is when the 114 data point happens.

maybe there is some sheduling software out there that can be set to send a flag to a program to exit (VWS), just before the pc is rebooted?

Since you have given us little information to work with. I will atleast assume you are running VWS. It would be helpful to know what version. But one place you might want to start looking is your database file(s). You probably have atleast 1 corrupt record that needs to be deleted. You can edit the file with Excel. If you use Excel you must reformat column 1 to be a number with 0 (zero) decimal places. If you do not do this and you save the file it will be ruined and will be useless to VWS. Be sure to backup the file before you edit.

Thanks for the information. I am fairly new to the software so excuse my learning curve. I am usign Ambient Software's Virtual Weather Station V13.01. I did look at the Heavy Weather History file and created a new one thinking that was the problem, but have not looked at the history file in VWS. I will look at that and see if there is anything strange next time I am at the cabin. Thanks again for your help.

Lance, you could post your URL to this thread, or put your site in your profile, then we could take a peak at the rest of your data... Andrew

Seeing the whole year sheds some new light, but even more questions.....
So the doubling began on Sept 1st. After backing up your data, you might want to try looking at / editing your database and/or daily bin files. Or perhaps if you dont mind just eliminating September bin files alltogether.
However, your data issues seem to be daily and since you starting back in 2007. You have a daily 114 mile per hour wind reading which you noted already Your barometer is a couple of hundred mb below where it probably should be, that probably means you are not using a sea level offset. However you have quite a few zero's and a 9 inch reported back on march 15th.
The 114 mile per hour wind reading. Is that a known issue with your type of station? I think there are probably quite a few people that reboot each day...
There also seems to be an issue with your rain. WU shows about a half inch of rain each day, but nothing in the intervals during the day. I thought 13" of rain was pretty high for south Utah. Your total rain does not seem to be affected by this, depending on which entry you look at.
The repeating in your daily.htm file looks like it happened in April - May as well then stopped and reported normally June to end of August. Prior to noting this, I thought your Sept 4th signing up and transmitting to WU might have something to do with the issues.
There are also some -20 temperature reported over the summer months...
I dont really know where you should start with trying to fix all the issues...
Andrew

Hi Imoison. I have had some strange daily high temperature readings for a couple of days over the past month. I will give you one guess what that figure was, yep.... 114is that strange, or is that strange? Alan.

Alan, I was noticing there were some similarities between yours and Lance's problems from your thread http://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=2192.msg15723#msg15723Well you can rule out stations, as I think Lance uses a Lacrosse since he mentions heavy weather, and you have a wmr100. You can rule out VWS versions as you mentioned you are on a beta version of 14, and he is on 13.01... So the 114 finding is very strange. I wonder how many other non 24-7's out there have a 114 in their history... and why it would not happen for the occasional shut downs... Andrew

Hi Andrew.
