Communication Error
« on: February 07, 2014, 11:32:59 PM »
Hello, I am running VWS v15.00 and I run it through Virtual VP via TCP/IP. At least a couple times a day I get this error from VWS and I have to close VWS and disconnect VVP and then reconnect VVP and restart VWS for it to regain connection. I am not sure if this is a VWS issue or a VVP issue. I run 3 other programs through VVP and don't have problems with them. As anyone else ever experienced this issue before?

-Thanks

Maybe your usb port is going to sleep.

Are you shure you disabled  this function in windows.
Otherwise use google  how to prevent usb going to sleep.

Good luck,

This is a serial connection not USB. I guess I should have mentioned that.

If the connection was timing out from going to sleep it would also prevent the other software running through VVP to time out too but it doesn't. It only happens with VWS.

Ok Maybe for the time being you can solve it using startwatch, and try to figure out what is realy wrong,it is not an elegant solution but keeps your station running after connection loss.

You can configure startwatch to restart after Vws hung or using to much resourses.

Maybe someone else can help you futher as for me Vws runs different.
You could try a downgrade too.

Cheers Chris

I do run startwatch too but it was causing more problems than helping.

I have tried downgrading too. The problem may not even being with VWS but with VVP. Just trying a process of elimination at the moment.

Yep process of elemination is a good road to go,but sometimes you are not able to find out why this happens.
Maybe your ftp takes a long time to upload?

Did you gave Vws some priority   SETTINGS > PROGRAM SETTINGS  CPU RESOURSES  SET ON HIGH

Worth of trying ?

This has nothing to do with FTP.

I don't FTP anything from VWS. It strictly feeds Imagesalsa and is used a backup source.

VWS is losing communication from the VP2 and I can't conclude if it is VWS or VVP.

Just curious if anyone else has seen this before I contact Ambient.
