I have a quick question I asked at the other location but didn't ever get around to following up on..
I seriously plan on a station upgrade sometime in the near future. I have planed for this before and something has always cropped up to squash it but maybe the third time is the charm LOL!!!

Anyway the version I an currently running now is primarily for the OS stations which is what I have currently. I would most likely need an upgrade to address some VP2 issues that have been fixed BUT will the update over write all the modifications already made
to the files for web page publication?? Stupid question I know but I have yet to have a need to upgrade and I am not at all sure what to expect from the process.

I honestly hope I get the need to do this upgrade soon if you catch my drift LOL!

Thanks!

Wayne

Wayne,

What version are you planning to upgrade from?  I went from a OS station to a Davis WM II without issue.  I don't think there will be any issue for you.  Your pages should all be able to be used as is.  I would back up the entire VWS directory just the same.

Just wanted to note here that I found one of the fixes in V14.00p37 and newer is one that applies to many of us with web pages displaying warnings.   Cool

"# P37. The warning tag was displaying the last warning in the list. It now displays the first warning in the list."

Sounds like this should get a tornado or severe thunderstorm warning to display first if there also happens to be a watch that was issued at an earlier time.  Previous versions would have shown the watch and then the warning.

There's been no severe weather around here yet for me to test it though.

I did the upgrade to P40 this morning because of the P37 warning fix. Can't comment on the warning fix as we don't have any warning, but as far as P40 running smoothly I haven't seen any issues from anything else. So if you had other thing that were broke you might want to check and see if they are still broke. Confused

I'll take some of the credit for the p37 warnings fix. Dancing  I was relentless in badgering Ed for this (sorry Ed, I hadda do it)  Smile
The way that the warnings worked in the past is that the warning tag would be the LAST (oldest) warning shown in the 1.txt field. The way that it works in p37 is that the FIRST warning in the 1.txt file is the warning shown in the warning tag. I haven' had a chance to test either, but I'm sure I'll get a chance soon.

I am currently running 13.01 which is what I have been running ever since using VWS due to it's ability to generate and upload a weather web page.

I am hoping I get to do an update on equipment sometime on or after the first of the year... I've said that lots of time and something happens that prevents if from becoming reality
but I still have fingers, toes and my furs have their paws crossed that it'll happen.

Thanks for the insight on the update! Never having a reason to up date yet I was not sure if it would over write everything or just update the patched files it sees as new.

Welcome to WxForum Total!   Very Happy

I would double check that VWS installed into the same directory as your original installation.  Also try upgrading a second time if you have not done so already.

Sounds like an incomplete download.  My last updates (file size) have been right at 12.7 Mb once downloaded.  I would try deleting the file and re-downloading it again.

Apparently none of the members here have run into that problem.  If you tried re-downloading the file and are still having a problem I would either call or send an email to Ed the author of the software:

support@AmbientWeatherStore.com

FYI.. We are only software users/purchasers like yourself.  We have no direct connection to the author or his company outside of that.  You have the same access to him as we do.

When I installed p47, I had no auto-updates to the mesonet.  Fell back to p45.
When I installed p48; no probs.
When I installed p49, no auto-updates to mesonet, and mesonet stations on the mesomap were all garbled at the very top of the map.  The last mesonet download time in MESONET Settings was 16Jan.  I'm staying away from p49.

It took me 2 or 3 years to update from 13.0P9 to 14.00 Smile  Actually the last update held nothing in the line of station enhancements for me but did clear up a lot of my FTP errors and such. Used to be that when my connection dropped..which is very ,very often the uploads would cease until I restarted VWS.. V 14 helped that quite a lot! If it could only fix my shaky internet DSL connection LOL!

Hi, on the last two updates .57 and .58 during the install it asks for disk #2 and the path goes to Content.IE\PZ5DGW7C

Is it just me having this problem?

Any ideas?

Thanks.
