Unable to install WeatherLink on Mac

I am a brand new owner of a Davis Vantage VUE and attendant WeatherLink software.
I got everything setup and connected on the hardware side with minimal problems.

Then, I installed the software and the USB software and re-booted.
When I ran the WeatherLink software, it loaded the main page and then immediately overlaid an error message:

Java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: /Applications/Mac OSX WeatherLink/libjspMacOSX.jnlib: no suitable image found.  Did find:  /Applicattions/Mac OSX WeatherLink/libjspMacOSX.jnlib: no matching architecture in matching wrapper.

I've found similar queries, but no answers!  One seems to have indicated he got it to work, but no explanation as to how he got it to work.

If worse comes to worst, I could try a Windows computer, but I've already purchased the Mac software.  Any chance Davis would exchange the packages without charging me all over again?

Hi
there are 3rd party Mac software you can use instead (as long as you have loaded the Davis Mac USB data logger driver)
like weather display for mac or one of the other programs available

This is a known issue with WeatherLink for Mac, see the following Davis document for the fix:

I got WeatherLink to work.  However, now I find that the Com Port doesn't appear.
I've re-installed the software, rebooted the console.  Removed the batteries, unplugged and reinstalled the adapter.
Nothing works to bring the Com Port up.

Any ideas?

Mac OS X Lion USB Driver v2.9
should work with Mountain Lion also

Hi Fran, and welcome to the WXForum!

I'm not sure what driver Davis is providing, or what version. Most of us Mac users have used the driver directly from Silicon Labs at https://www.silabs.com/products/mcu/Pages/USBtoUARTBridgeVCPDrivers.aspx

Some users gave found that the USB data logger doesn't seat tightly in the back of the Vue Console, so check that yours is. If it is loose, some have put a bit of foam between the logger and the door.

Once you use the Davis WeatherLink for Mac a little bit, you'll find why most of us quickly moved to other third-party Mac weather station software. Check out the discussion in the WXForum Mac sub-forum at http://www.wxforum.net/index.php?board=114.0 for details on the three most-used options.

[EDIT] I see now that the above linked USB driver from Davis is version 2.9. The one linked in this post from Silicon Labs is version 3.1, and works fine with Lion and Mountain Lion.
