For now comment out line 87 and the site will work again.

I had to comment out lines 94 through 101 to get working again

It is early morning here, sorry for the other parts of the world. No time to read all these post yet also.

Cause of the problems:
The metar data server seems not operational, no time yet to check.

Solution:
Change the source for the current conditions:  => Go to weather2/wsSettings.php

Scan for lines
Code: [Select]
#---------------------------------------------------------------------------
# from which source do we get the current conditions. Select one, comment out the other
#------------------------------------------------------------------------- #####
#$SITE['curCondFrom'] = 'wd'; // if you are using WeatherDisplay AND have set WD correctly
$SITE['curCondFrom'] = 'yahoo'; // if you use Yahoo also for the forecast on the startpage no other forecast
#$SITE['curCondFrom'] = 'metar'; // default, mostly best choice

If you are already using WD or Yahoo you should be  OK

1. Remove the comment mark # on the first position from the line with Yahoo

2. Add on  line metar a #   on the first position.

3. Save and the website will probably running again

Although in a lot of cases with the wrong current conditions.

Check now the yahoo settings in, if nothing is there insert 973505  for now

$SITE['yaPlaceID']   = '973505';           // ##### 973505 = Leuven

On your leisure you have to find the correct place ID for your city
#   if you use yahoo to supply the current weather conditions you HAVE to set the other settings correctly
#   https://weather.yahoo.com find your city and copy the number, check for Leuven and you find 973505

===

Try to find another supplier of metar today.

New metar source in attached script.
1. make a copy / backup of weather2/wsMetarXml.php
2. Unzip attached script
3. replace new with old on your webserver.

If you switched to yahoo you can now go back to metar if you prefer.

others:
All data is cached and so if the cache is valid you will still get the xml errors:
To get rid of the cached data use &force=metar to your website addres for ONE time only
www.yourwebsite.com/weather2/index.php?p=10&force=metar

===
  ](*,) My humble excuses for the errors.
The script failed so terrible because I did not correctly count the length of the 404 error message.
So next time when the metars are unavailable the "unknown metar error" will be displayed as current condition.

I will modify this script the coming days to switch between the two different sites when the first choice is unavailable.

Wim,

Thanks for the quick fix. I know you will do your best to have an updated file soon.

The new problem I am seeing, (not sure about the others), is the NOAA Forecast script. When I go to either NOAA Forecast page, I get this error:

Warning: include(noaafct/startLeuven.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home2/lightn69/public_html/quadcities/index.php on line 328

Warning: include(noaafct/startLeuven.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home2/lightn69/public_html/quadcities/index.php on line 328

Warning: include(): Failed opening 'noaafct/startLeuven.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home2/lightn69/public_html/quadcities/index.php on line 328

I haven't removed anything. I am thinking the NWS has updated their forecasting parameters and have caused our info to change again. I am about to go to work. If you cannot get to it, I will further look into it later today.

NOTE:  The WU Forecast is unchanged. So I know for a fact it's not a permissions issue. the majority of my permissions are set at 755. This error came as the Metarxml.php file went bad.

Jonny J.

Sorry but he posted script is not a quick fix. It is fixed.  I will add extra functionality so in the futere an alternative  site will be checked also when the main site is not available.

Every noaafct script i tested on other sites works.
http://www.weerstation-leuven.be/northam/index.php?p=50-1
and one can see the scripts also:
http://www.weerstation-leuven.be/northam/noaafct/startLeuven.php?sce=view

The message at your site says that  the noaafct script is not where it should be "No such file"
or
is inaccesible because of permissions.

At your site the folder itself is missing.
http://lightningweather.com/quadcities/noaafct/  => results in a 404 error so is not found

The contents can not be found then also:
http://lightningweather.com/quadcities/noaafct/noaa3.css
http://lightningweather.com/quadcities/noaafct/startLeuven.php?sce=view

Did you move or renamed a folder by accident?

Wim,

Thank you. I didn't have any problems with the NOAA Forecast until last night.

I didn't have that file added to the server. I have it done now. Thank you for pointing me in that direction.

One thing I noticed on both the "One Page" and the Extensive Forecast pages, at the bottom of the actual forecast (above the credits for the script), I have the following message.

 Forecast from NOAA-NWS for 3%20Miles%20ESE%20Davenport%20IA

I looked through all of the files for that. I was unable to locate this line to make adjustments to it. Which file has this in it?

. . . shortened . .
Wim,

 . .

3 Miles ESE Davenport IA - 41.54- -90.55.  NOAA uses only 2 decimals for lat/lon
This means that the settings for your weatherstation are   latitude: 41.54  longitude -90.55 which is 3 miles ESE of Davenport IA. And with these lat/lon settings the forecast is retrieved.

Sometimes people are using latitude longitude settings which are way off their real location, after they moved for example. Then the forecast is not valid, but it took some time in the past to find the reason for their "strange" forecasts.

So the location for the forecast data is at the bottom, just to check the data when it looks not valid for the location name at the top of the forecast which is Davenport, Iowa.

If you do not like that location description at the bottom, you can easilly move the location.  Just for this script you have to find the lat / lon 3 miles WNW of where you realy are.
You have to play a little bit with your latitude longitude.

Then you adapt the calling script weather2/noaafct/startLeuven.php lines 24-25 from
$myLatitude      = $SITE['latitude'];
$myLongitude      = $SITE['longitude'];
to
$myLatitude      = 'the new value';
$myLongitude      = 'and the new value here';

and then your forecast text is in the middle of Davenport.

KK7X,

If you have started updating from 2.x to 2.6, you need to go back to the 2.6 downloaded folder to locate it. Make the necessary adjustments in the NOAAsettings folder before uploading.
I over looked it myself.

Wim,

Two questions.

Best way to add a refresh button to the mobile page.

Second, I need to add translations for greenhouse.

From the wiki it says to we need the correct description so we add a language line to weather2/lang/wsLanguage-en-local.txt
langlookup|Pool|Today max temp|

I can't find Pool in the wsLanguage-en-local.txt  only wsLanguage-en.txt

Thanks

I will think about that.
1. But which person is looking at his phone for a long time? The iPad users get the PC site as default, other tablet users can go to the iPad site when there tablet is big enough. And that choice is saved for a next visit.

So only the "small" phone users use the mobile site, I think.

2. On the mobile page: When clicking on the depressed button the displayed page is refreshed. Just try it with the contact page. Some text in one field, press contact again, and the screen is cleared.

You should always ADD  additions and improvements  to your local language file. Therefore when there is a new release you will not loose your changes.

Touching  current button on mobile page - does refresh data. No need for another button. I didn't notice that before.

I'll add translations local language file.

@all

Check updates
There are always updates in the download area so take some time to check:
http://leuven-template.eu/download.php?lang=en

Extensions
There are also nice new pages which will be included in future releases
http://leuven-template.eu/wsTemplate_2_add-ons.zip
You can see them working at
http://www.wiri.be/weather2/?lang=en
Third menu item "Demo extra pages"

Leuven pages on other websites
It is relative easy to use pages from the Leuven-template on other websites.
http://www.wiri.be/saratoga/?lang=en  => menu "Demo iFrame"
The soil-page and the Sun/moon almanac from the Leuven demo site are used here in an iframe.

New "Issues / problems" page on Leuven Template support site.

Today the link to the "thunder" image in the sidearea failed for central-european users of the Leuven-template. Just to make those new links and other small adjustments  available faster in the future, I added an extra page on the support site.

All outstanding issues will be documented there including links to posts on the forums.

Hello, so I have gotten around to tackling this project again. First time I tried I hosed something and it threw errors around like crazy. Scraped it and started over paying extra close details to the instructions. This time it installed correctly. Thinking back it may have been pulling a cached version of the incorrect file paths. Regardless it is working now but, I have one minor issue. It is a little hot, see the link to see what I am talking about.

Wim,

I have my Wunderground Almanac set up on WD to allow records from the official reporting station. I was wondering if you have come across anyone wanting to display official record highs/lows?  If so, do you have a link or know how I can go about setting one up?
My plan is to have a page for that with a notification on the home page that can be clicked on to access the records like we do with Weather Alerts.
This would most likely be workable with Public Information Statements. Maybe I can figure out some way to put those together in a tab or something and have one page.  Any Idea's as to how to go about it?

The conversion of UOM (C <=> F and all other units) is automatic for lastret.txt / latest.csv as these files contains the unit used in the file.

plaintext.txt contains no hint to what units are used. So there is a setting for that  in wsWxsimSA/wsWxsimsettings.php line approx. 108-110
Code: [Select]
# uom  = unit of measurement = units for temp baro etc.
$uoms = array ('C', 'mm','km/h', 'hPa','cm','km'); // #####  IMPORTANT  #####
#$uoms = array ('F','in','mph','mb','in','mi');
if you remove the comment mark # on line 110 the imperial units will be used.

The icons are generated using the plaintext file, and according to the settings now, they are converted from C => F but they already are in F. They end up far to high.

As always with those bl**dy foreigners, they do not understand what one is telling them.
Is this what you mean with "records": http://wxcalgary.com/weather2-6/index.php
The part below temperature?

That "record this day" and "normal" can come from EC data or from the WU almanac data. The EC data is free, the WU data needs the "free for now" api key. But those extremes are only available for temp. So I have no idea what you mean with "official record highs/lows?   -   page that can be clicked on to access the records like we do with Weather Alerts"

I am including that part around the thermometer for an upcoming maintenace release.
I am not aware of more data-extremes  available to all weather-programs.And I have to write general solutions which can be used by all weather-programs.

I was wondering if you would understand where I was going with this...my apologies for not clearly presenting this.
#-o
Yes, however, it would say "Official Record High (Low)" instead of "Station High (Low)". It could also be listed as a "Recently Issued Record Report", or "Recent Record Event". It would link to a separate page with the records officially from the NWS office.  I presume most "All" Weather Offices across the globe have Record Highs/Lows.

Having the "Station Record High (Low)" would link to the stations records for that particular date...(as long as there is atleast 2 years of data recorded).
I can see what I can come up with on my end as well.

I have included a couple of images from the NWS Quad Cities office here in Davenport, Iowa. The first is the landing page at www.weather.gov/dvn (not sure if you will be able to get to this site or not).

The second is the records page (Text only) from the NWS office in the Quad Cities. Anyone can get to this page by clicking on the "Record Event" link on the main page.

Again, I can see what I can do from my end at making a page that links to the Text Data from the NWS Office, without leaving my/our sites. This way everyone can access this information right from their local weather office when there is an official record and be able to share it with their viewers.
:idea:
Quote
That "record this day" and "normal" can come from EC data or from the WU almanac data. The EC data is free, the WU data needs the "free for now" api key. But those extremes are only available for temp. So I have no idea what you mean with "official record highs/lows?   -   page that can be clicked on to access the records like we do with Weather Alerts"

With the WU Almanac on WD grabbing the info already, an API Key should not be needed.

If I'm also thinking correctly, it's also possible to design this like Curly's alerts script and have the official records be automatic. May have to run a cron job to work it, but I think it's do-able. :!:

I am including that part around the thermometer for an upcoming maintenace release.I am not aware of more data-extremes  available to all weather-programs.And I have to write general solutions which can be used by all weather-programs.

I like the way the page looks. It gives it some extra color and makes it look more authentic.
=D&gt; Looks good! Can't wait for the update! I would be willing to be a US Beta Tester for you if you need one. \:D/

Jonny J.

It is a little hot, see the link to see what I am talking about.

http://www.mesquiteweather.net/wsWxsimSA/start.php

-Thanks
The conversion of UOM (C <=> F and all other units) is automatic for lastret.txt / latest.csv as these files contains the unit used in the file.

plaintext.txt contains no hint to what units are used. So there is a setting for that  in wsWxsimSA/wsWxsimsettings.php line approx. 108-110
Code: [Select]
# uom  = unit of measurement = units for temp baro etc.
$uoms = array ('C', 'mm','km/h', 'hPa','cm','km'); // #####  IMPORTANT  #####
#$uoms = array ('F','in','mph','mb','in','mi');
if you remove the comment mark # on line 110 the imperial units will be used.

Ah perfect! That is exactly what I was looking for. I knew there had to be a setting somewhere I was over looking and there was. Just wasn't looking in the right place and far enough down. So now I got it running. http://www.mesquiteweather.net/wsWxsimSA/start.php I have not started to put it in my template. http://www.mesquiteweather.net/wxsimforecast.php and I have a couple of small minor issues that need tweaking.

First is where do I set the width of the graph? It is perfect on the start.php but when I put it in the template it isn't wide enough.

Second, it doesn't appear it rendering the CSS completely as there may be some conflicts in classes. Is that normal or is there something I am overlooking?

Lastly, is it possible to output the time in 12hr instead of 24hr time? Is there some code I can change or is this done in WxSim itself?

-Thanks

The wxsimforecast.php can also be given another name wxsimforecast_test.php for the time being so that you can test it in the 'real" environment.

As this is not a "plain' saratoga template with vertical menus, the calculation for the width of the graph is of by 105px.
Modify line 102 in  wsWxsimSA/wsWxsimsettings.php which reads now
 $widthGraphs    = ($mainWidth - 5).'px;';
to
$widthGraphs    = ($mainWidth +100).'px;';

The wxsimforecast.php /  wxsimforecast_test.php script loads a start script as does the stand-alone version.
In that start script there are settings for:

$SITE['dateLongFormat']   = 'l d F Y';   // Thursday 3 january 2013
$SITE['hourOnlyFormat']   = 'H';  // Euro format 'H'  (hh=00..23);  us format 'h a'   05 pm
change the time format to
$SITE['hourOnlyFormat']   = 'h a';
and the time will follow am/pm conventions

Thanks! I was able to tweak those things with your help.

About the CSS. If you look at this page which is the standalone. http://www.mesquiteweather.net/wsWxsimSA/start.php

You'll notice it uses the CSS for the script. Once I include it in my page though if you look at the link above compared to this link in my template it is completely different. I.E. the tabs for one and also the footer is broken. The grey at the bottom isn't suppose to look like that. If you look at another page you'll see what I am referring too but, mostly it doesn't following the CSS included with the script. It is inheriting the overall templates CSS which is strange if they don't use the same classes. http://www.mesquiteweather.net/wxsimforecast.php

I got the time changed from 24hr to 12hr. It works on the 3hr and 48hr now fine. On the graph though it is still in 24hr time. Is there someplace else I would need to edit to change it to 12hr time in the graphs?

-Thanks

The start.php uses the setting on line 7
$colorClass            = 'pastel';      // pastel green blue beige orange
The startSaratoga.php has on line 7
$colorClass            = 'beige';

Does that explains it?
Or are there more differences,

Wim

Not exactly, I see where that is set for which color class to use. The problem is it is not using the color class when I put it in my template.

This http://www.mesquiteweather.net/wsWxsimSA/start.php

Does not look like this http://www.mesquiteweather.net/wxsimforecast.php

If you look closely at the two pages. You see the forecasts have a blue background and the tabs are blue. When it is in my template the tabs are not colored and the forecast backgrounds are grey. It is inheriting the template CSS and not the script CSS even though this is in the head of the wxsimforecast.php page as included which should pull the CSS that is included in the script.

Code: [Select]
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="styleWsWxsim.css" media="screen" title="screen" />
<script type="text/javascript">
var docready=[],$=function(){return{ready:function(fn){docready.push(fn)}}};
</script>

Hope that makes more sense.

-Thanks
