My First Earthquake (that I've noticed)
« on: November 10, 2012, 01:59:11 PM »
I know John in AK and all the CA folks will snicker at me, but I felt an earthquake today.  It was in KY, but was felt to Atlanta, GA.  I filled out the "did you feel it?" section of the USGS website.  I thought my wife was rattling pots and pans in the kitchen, but it turns out she was still sleeping.

Everyone here felt it except for me, I was walking back from breakfast on campus when it happened, and I guess I thought it was just a car or nearby truck and never paid notice.

I felt one here in Aug 2011, a rare bird for Pennsylvania, I was afraid to tell anyone, but I went to the USGS site and filled out the report too.  Turns out so did alot of other folks.

Ours was a 5.9 centered in Virginia but the way the ground or plates are it travels farther here than on the West coast so I'm told.

Jeesch, you either sleep in very late or eat breakfast at lunchtime. The quake was reported as occurring at 12:08PM local.
