i set up the vp2 a year ago. the mounting pole (steel tube just >1") i originally used had allowed the iss to be vibrated in the wind causing the reed switch to get wet in an exceptionally violent storm. here is the new mount -a local contractor set a traffic sign pole (3" dia) into concrete. now it is sorted and rock solid. i fitted a remote anemometer a year ago on a nearby hillock -it has not required any attention at all.
the davies equipment has been there a year and it is credit to the company that there is not a spot of rust on the mountings nor any sign of wear and tear -and this view west is facing the open atlantic (over the col ... -next stop America) -the area is known as Iorras Aintheach in Irish -the windy peninsula. i highly commend this equipment -it reports to weatherlink and i log the data using an envoy and a separate datalogger on the console (via mac).

It looks like the smaller tube could jiggle inside the wider one, and the whole unit turn in the wind.
You might be better with something like a couple of large-ish U-bolt or exhaust clamps securing it to the outside of the larger tube

i got the larger u bolt for the 3" pole but it would not fit through the vp2 mount (without me altering the latter). the smaller tube is bolted onto the larger one at 2 points (took some drilling) -i will monitor it but there is no movement at all in the two tubes and the iss never moved on the mounting before -it just vibrated. i take your point though and i'll watch it.

it's also out of sight so wife happy too.
