I am looking for a system that can monitor various parameters on a cabin that is visited a handful of times during the year. The cabin has limited supply of power through a solar panel system. We have planned a solar heating system that i ssupposed to store the heat in a water reservoir in the basement. At the moment I want to get a system that can log and monitor the following parameters over the year.

Temperature and humidity outside
Temperature and humidity inside in the main cabin
Temperature and humidity inside in the techincal room
Temperature and humidity inside in the solar power control room
Temperature in the warm water reservoir in the baseement
Temperature in the solar heating panels on the ceiling
Sun radiation (to estimate the charging of the solar panel batteries)
Solar power battery voltage (12 V)
Wind
Rain
Barometric pressure

I will probably find more parameters that I would like to monitor, so I will need a versatile and scaleable system. The system shoulkd also be able to store the logging data and work without requiring any attention during sevelal months between the visits. There is currently no internet access at the cabin, but that would be very interesting to find some way of monitoring these parameters through the gsm network or some other kind of mobile broadband connection.

From reading different threads here I hear that the davis system is quite versatile and scaleable. However I have not yet understood what type of boxes and sensors I can buy and approximately what the total cost will be.

I hope to get some good advice and maybe even tips on systems that would suit my need even better than the davis weatherstation that I have found. Maybe a more conventional data logger with thermocouple probes can do the job just as well.
