Very cool! Looks like the lady in the SUV to the left, braved it out right until the dust hit. Quick question, do you folks have someone raking up loose dirt to your upwind of these storms or what? We get a lot of strong storm out flows/down bursts here and not near that quantity of dirt/dust is kicked up.

We get a lot of strong storm out flows/down bursts here and not near that quantity of dirt/dust is kicked up. There's a LOT of empty space between here and Tucson. Depending on where the storms are coming from, they can pick up dirt from way down south and fling it all over the place up here. Winds yesterday were generally SE, so there ya go!

That's what I kinda figured, John. Thanks for confirming. It seems as though you folks have been getting hammered with these type storms more frequently than in the past. Hopefully, it's not a continuing trend.

Pretty much the whole country has been getting hammered lately with all sorts of stuff. IMHO - it's our own fault... I think it is because of at least 10 years of continuous perpetual drought, two very dry winters and the urban heat island causes storms collapse or to go around Phoenix and all we get is dust. The storms form in Pinal county rain out all the good rains way south of here and then they collapse as they approach Phoenix picking up all dirt from the dry desert and farm lands south of the valley and then send towering walls of dust into the city Jeanette. P.S. BTW - Matt awesome photographs were some of those taken from ASU???

P.S. BTW - Matt awesome photographs were some of those taken from ASU??? Nope, actually captured these all from the top of the hospital parking structure at the US60 and Dobson Road. Also sure good to hear from you! I've been meaning to send an email to you for ages to see how you were doing but never seem to get it done. Thanks Mark, will try to be around a bit more often! Have been really busy with work and finishing up school, just graduate this May with my PhD in Meteorology. So for now, just teaching and a bit of research so I have more free time. Matt
