I just got a new uvn800 sensor in today and got it running with a reading of 5, my vp2 is showing 11.8 and wu is estimating 12. Is it normal for the sensor to read so low out of the box? I read where some have had it read better after it was running for awhile. Just wondering if this is normal for one of these sensors to read so far off.  It is bright sun here in south texas and should be reading pretty high. I hope it is not bad out of the box.

I just got a new one as well and mainly it's been between 4 and 7 here in the Ft Hood area with a few 8s.
I believe I read in the instructions its scale is 1 through 10  but I swore last year I saw it read up to 12.

Anyway perhaps the Oregon Scientific uses a different scale than Davis...

As we speak mine is reading 4 moderate.

There is one whose reads 11 and i think it reads to 14. Mine is reading right at half of what it should be. I think the uv index is a standard measure for everyone. I guess i can just double the reading to get close.

Had the same issue when mine was new. Over time the sensor will eventually become better. 1st summer mine read 8. Last year it got up to 11. This year I'm seeing 14 on a regular basis.

When my two year old UVN800 was new is was fairly accurate. Now it reads a little more than double what my Davis sensor reads. For example, at this time the Davis is showing 10.0 and the OS is showing 21!

I want to get UV on my VP2 to compair. I suspect the UVN800 isn't UV proof. Nothing is really but the sensor drifts are enough to make me question the Chinese made componets OS uses.
