This has been one heck of a year. Mild winter, stormy April. But July so far has been wonderful. Last Sunday or the 1st we had a rain storm come through bringing us a much needed 0.08 inches of rain. Now looking at the forecast we have 5 days lined up of rain. The weather we're expected to see this upcoming week is what we usually see in April-May. This has been the most I've seen in the month of July alone. 1 year ago was the first month long period of not seeing a drop and now it's looking to be the rainiest July's I've seen in years. Since 2007 to be exact. Along with cooler temperatures despite the heat wave we had at the end of June.  Applause

For the rest of you in the central/east part of the country, after last year I know what your going through. I pray your heat wave will end soon. Stay cool.

.08 here isn't worth getting excited about.  Rain is needed here, though, to hold another bad drought at bay.  Interestingly, last year all of drought stricken July here had .69 and August, .83. August included a bad rain storm with winds up to 81mph.

Fortunately, chances of rain go up here soon, too, but, so far,  only to 30%.  Yeah, 2007 was an unbelievably rainy year here, with over 60 in. of rain for a record.  Back then, 6 in. fell one evening on the north side of town, 3.5 in. here.

We have some weird west-moving storms in from Arkansas that are trying to put their way into Tulsa County.  NWS has us at a 30 percent chance of rain before 1pm, 40 percent chance tonight.  I was surprised getting up to get the paper this morning (yes I still take a print version of our paper) that it smelled like rain outside.

Well, July has been pretty hot here just north of DFW airport.

Only .02 inches of rain so far and temps right at 100 degrees.

Showers would obviously be welcome.  It's better than last July, but it's plenty hot.

Well this week has proved some flaws in the computer models Laughing Here they were predicting rain and we (DFW) were in a big donught hole. Storms all around us and not a drop for us. Sometimes I think there's a curse or something paranormal over North Texas. Storms headed for us fall apart before we get a drop. About to call a priest to bless this land and send this dry spot back to the hell from which it came  Wink Sorry, had to let it out.

Sounds like the pattern here until finally it rained some mid afternoon in the amount of .21 on Wed.  But it was isolated.  The west edge of town didn't get anything.  A 10 to 20% chance of rain will continue for a few days longer.
