Today I tried something with my weather station and Wunderground. I created a QR code for my weather station and posted it in the window facing the busiest street next to my house. Hopefully this gets some action. A little creative.

Uhh... wouldn't the people standing out in front of your house scanning the code know the current live weather there?

Try scanning it with a QR reader and you will see.

I know what it should go to, but it won't work for me as the word weather is not spaced from http.

Uhh... wouldn't the people standing out in front of your house scanning the code know the current live weather there? Well ask your self, why do you have a weather station? Wouldn't you know the weather standing in front of your house? I'm sure people would want to find out a little more about the weather for the same reason we all have weather stations I know what it should go to, but it won't work for me as the word weather is not spaced from http.
If you have a smartphone. Download a QR reader. Then using the QR reader scan the image I provided. When it comes up with a link. Hit that link and you should be set. just wondering, what is this suppose to do?
Try scanning it with a QR reader and you will see. Glad someone knows what a QR scanner app is Well hopefully this patches up some confusion on 21st century technology known as smartphones.

One question though...Do you actually have that many people just standing about outside your home within working distance of a QR reader? And by "that many" I mean enough people to justify placing a QR code in your window?

There was a billboard with nothing but the QR graphic on it and they got thousands of hits just because of curiosity.
I have decals on my vehicle for my weather web site and I get a few hits off of that. I'm thinking of putting the QR on the rear window just to see what happens.

That's a great idea. I know they have been used in Japan for years. Lots of good info here: http://www.qrreaders.net/

Also the same side walk is a path to the community swimming pool. If you read my original post I mentioned the busiest street. Besides. QR codes are free. In a smartphone you take a URL add a name and description. And hit a button that comes up with a code much like Wunderground comes up with a station ID. You send it to your self via email so you have it on a computer where you can further edit it. Then print it out. Doesn't cost anymore than a sheet of paper and a couple ounces of ink. Not like it's a crime.

I know what the weather is like there only when I am there. I really can't see ever using a QR code for my station. YMMV

QR codes are good for businesses trying to drive people to a certain promotion or something. www.xyxcorporation...blahblha.com/offer1/region2/english/massmarket.php Something clearly not quickly typable on a handheld. Its definitely overused these days, especially on fairly easy urls. By the time I fire up my QR reader I could have googled it, or typed manually. Here's 10 funny QR fails (some just funny not fails). Probably tons out there. http://mashable.com/2012/03/04/funniest-qr-code-fail/Number4 is especially funny. (insert an std, erectile dysfunction, or any other thing that you dont want an entire subway car to know you have here) Andrew
