My avatar is a good shot of the new siting for my Davis anemometer.
I set it up today and proceeded to fall 3 meters off of the ladder. I'm posting this from the ER waiting for X-ray results.  Brick wall left elbow, back and ribs.
But I got everything back up and running before the pain set in.

Welcome to the forum and ouch! Shocked
Man I hope everything will be ok. I love the fact you actually went back up and finished the install.
I think this is the first time anyone has posted getting injured mounting their anny.
In all seriousness I hope everything is fine.

I'm sorry, but I have to comment! If I fell 10' putting up some weather apparatus my wife would have cussed me up one side and down the other, but she would have felt somewhat sorry for me and driven me to the ER. If, on the other hand, "I got everything back up and running before the pain set in", I would have had to walk to the ER, and further, if I took pictures of the result, she would have been kicking my rear all the way!

Way to go man, I'm proud of you!

Evil or Very Mad   now for the important stuff:
I hope your spouse gave you hell for this.  If she didn't , she needs to. You could have been killed.  I have never figured out the wisdom of putting it up on the roof. We live on the ground or near it, that is where the wind is. At least mount a mast to the side of the house like a pole or one of those HAM towers, at I bet it is cheaper than falling and nearly screwing yourself over.  Twisted Evil

I recall in Karate class I fell and fractured my ulna at the elbow and had a 10 week cast on.  then there was the time the wife and I were bicycling and she said she was going to stop. She did immediately and I, to avoid hitting her, went over the handle bars and fractured a couple of ribs.  Then of course the great time I was out with an electrician putting up motion detector lights and I was  showing him where I wanted them, walking in the wet grass going down a hill wearing moccasins, thinking that this was not a good idea and I reached for the fence, and fell backward hyper flexing my right knee. So after  complaining about it for a month, the wife forces me to go to the doctor, who finds a hairline fracture of the femur near the knee.

So I do know all that hurts and I am so pleased that you will have someone holding the ladder next time you climb up in Weather Heaven.  Geez... but it does look nice, don't it.?

Thanks for the notes of encouragement.  My wife got a kick out of them too (as she kicked my butt to the ER)

I'm a high school science teacher and I'm missing the last week of school. Confused  The down side...I teach seniors and I won't see them before they leave. Sad  The silver lining, I miss exam week and instead of proctoring, I'm playing with weather software... Dancing

I'd say live and learn... but at 62 I really shoulda learned better sooner. d'oh!

Cheer up, I also teach junior and seniors. I am sure that they will contact you over this.  Perhaps get the yearbook advisor to take a picture.

After this extended thread, Here, at long last, are the site photos...

looking northwest
trees are 20m north of station
house is 30m south
road is  10m west behind 1m high berm and dense hedge

When I heal, I will be adding a solar powered FARS.

looking west
mast is 1 1/4" 2m black iron pipe strapped to unused chimney
height above ground, 8-9m
anny is above all nearby trees
