Hi All

Just trying to gauge if there is any support/need for a forum dedicated to 1 wire technologies?

This would be a forum specifically for hardware & software dealing with 1 wire.

There is a lot of information out on the Internet and insome threads here. Most parts are quite easy to purchase.

For those not sure what it is see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1-Wire

Do you think a dedicated forum is work having for this technology?

Chris

My original (other than homebrew during High School) weather equipment is/was One Wire. My main setup is now Davis VP2, but I am still running a number of one wire sensors including the lightning detector. I run One Wire Weather by Simon Melhuish (UK).

I currently have:
    TAI-8570 AAG Barometer
Hobby Boards 6CH-R3-A Six Channel Hub
AAG Humidity sender located on North Side of house in a ventilated housing. The One-Wire based system Temperature is from this device.
Hobby Boards LD4-R1-A Lightning Detector on GPC1 OWW Counter
Dallas Semiconductor DS18S20 Thermometer in Davis Passive Shield
Inspeed Anemometer with Hobby-Boards dual counter

The AAG V3 Weather Station is now in a box in the basement due to a dodgy wind vane ADC, prompting the VP2 installation. The rest still works and posts data to my website and WOW http://wow.metoffice.gov.uk/latestobservationservlet?siteID=23083067. Ignore the wind direction, it is just some default data, there is no wind vane.

Periodically people post looking for help on it, so it is probably worthwhile.

WD does support 1-wire but it's Linux support stinks, they are only really interested in the commercial Windoze version.  Pity it could be a nice addition to Linux.  I would support a 1-wire forum.

there is a linux version, sorry it stinks (it does not have 1 wire support excpet via data file sharing with OWW)

I am waiting on the compiler I use for the Mac version to come out with a linux port
(I have posted that info on the WD forum)
you either will have to be patient, or vent your frustration on this forum, like you have (for first time post here , not very impressive I must say)
