http://www.grlevelx.com/grlevel3_2/   Downloading it as I type this.

Has a 21 day trial period, price is $79...  I'm assuming the upgrade price is $40.

Downloaded and up and running. Luckily for me, I purchased 1.9 with in the last 6 months, so it looks like a free upgrade will be coming.  Dancing

A big plus is you don't have to add the background, maps etc.. Setting your home position is easy also. Before you had to create a file, now you can just zoom in to the street level, find your house and right click to add your home marker. There were some concerns about resources, but this quad i5 computer has 8G of memory. Currently it is running the new GRLevel software, the old version, FF, WD & 2 webcams and Itunes. Memory is at 44% and CPU bounces between 14% - 27% depending on what the movie maker is doing. The color file is different so there is some learning to do before changing it.

All in all it is much more user friendly. As far as the radar goes, we haven't had any rain last night so I can't comment on it yet. I will play around with it a bit more and go live to the website this weekend.

You could do that in V1.XX

I haven't decided if I'm going to V2 or not yet.  V1 has served me well so far.  I'm not really into eye candy.

If you want to have all the new features that the NWS DualPol radar upgrade provides, you'll need to upgrade.  And at some point, I believe all radar sites will be on the DualPol.  But not this year I think.

I guess that would depend on the background or maps you use. Mine were not that detailed in V1. In V2, I ca nfind teh fence post that the station is mounted on.  Smile

Have not yet downloaded the latest version of GR, going to make sure that there is no bugs with it and read up on some posts by those who have it. It looks great and the added features are going to make storm chasing a breeze. Does the background map come with street level roads and locations or do we have to add in a tiger map shapefile?

I downloaded it last night, installed it this morning and switched my Allison House feed over to it from Version 1.9.  I like what I see so far.  Configuration seemed easier, probably somewhat because I knew better what I wanted to do with it.

The "base roads" map has interstates, major state roads and parkways on it. The background map is just like Google earth maps. All the roads that were there when the satellite picture was taken are there, but there are no road names etc... You can zoom in closer than the attached pic.

It took me a while to figure out the ftp section but was finally able to do it. Had to do the following:
http://ftp://username:password@macungieweather.net/public_html/wx

Note, no ftp before the server name and do not end the directory with a slash. Worked fine after I figured it all out and I do have a few special characters in my password.

Hope this helps

Mike

Your example is clearer when displayed as code.  Otherwise it's a dead 'live' link.  I used that format as well.

And there's talk of him changing the ftp section back to the old 1.9 format.  I liked that better actually.  I struggled a little to get it to work, but I'm not going to use 2.0 much for a while anyway; my local radar isn't dualpol yet (KINX) so I don't see the need to start feeding it with the new version.  Since I bought 1.9 in March, I'll get the free upgrade anyway.  But might have to beef up my current rig to run it (I have a Celeron with shared video at 256mb; it seemed a little sluggish when I ran it).  I'd planned on that anyway.

I'm trying it locally first. It seems that for the size I use on my site, the file size has roughly doubled. Not as bad as I thought it would be.

I have been uploading 7 products to the web, using 3 different instances of 2.0 and I have not had any problems.  I have been uploading 8 days straight without re-starting.  So far I love it!

I guess it been awhile since I posted on here. How do you like GR3? I thought about adding it but I had not got around to it, it probably be interesting during the Monsoon Season

Been up for quite a while. This was an update to the new 2.0.

It's very nicely done. The new version has a much more interesting and informative display. As mentioned, still messing with the settings. Unfortunately, without a cloud in the sky in our area, all the nifty storm-chasing features can't be seen, but that will change in the next few weeks as the Monsoon should be in gear by early July.
