Hi
Can anyone with a Vue shed any light on to what may have happened?
The ISS stopped transmitting this afternoon. I've changed the battery and attempted to reset it, but no luck.
The unit is only 4 months old, so I'm a little surprised it should fail so quickly! The console is fine.
Any advice etc greatly appreciated.
Cheers Johnny.

1. How do you know the console is fine?
2. It should still be under warranty, so call your seller.
Added: at this time, your web site is updating every 10 minutes - I presume it wouldn't be saying that the time reflects live data, if that was not the case. Did it fix itself? Or what?

On his WU page, pressure is still updating fine, so it looks like Cumulus is still talking to his console OK. Temp, humidity, wind speed and direction all flat-lined at 2pm. So the site is still updating every x minutes, just the only data point that is actually changing is baro... Barometer will be from the console, so no new data from ISS fits in. Not much more to do while under warranty - new battery, press reset button - work or not work! Bringing it indoors to dry off if it had been some exceptional storm is about the only other thing I might try before packing it off.

Many of us have Vue's and mine is way up on a steep roof, so I hope it decides to stay with me for a long time. I have had mine up since October of last year and not any problems so far....

Oh. Sorry, I was misled a bit. This is still not evidence that the console is capable of receiving if the ISS is transmitting, of course.

Thanks for all the responses.
Still not sure what is going on.
Spoke to the dealer who were very helpful and went through the usual check list - replace battery, reset etc. Nothing worked. The dealer then suggested that I take the battery out and leave the ISS for a few hours and then place the battery back in. I did this and the ISS started up again! Perhaps this is an issue that the dealer is aware of, hence advising me to do it.
Whether there was moisture in the ISS which caused the fault, I'm unsure. We have had lots of rain in the UK over the last 4 t o5 weeks. But I would of thought this would not cause any problems.
Anyhow, the station is again set up and I'll see how it goes. I can't see any point sending the ISS/console back for fault testing at this stage.
The console appeared fine and I left it running with Cumulus to send the internal data and pressure so at least that would not be lost. In theory it could have been the console not picking up the ISS as opposed to the ISS not transmitting. I was going on the transmit icon on the console, which had stopped.
Cheers Johnny

I think damp can occasionally penetrate where it should not in extreme conditions and perhaps it causes voltage loss and strange behaviour. Here we sometimes get wind driven sea fog + drizzle which defies the laws of physics and can penetrate anything eventually.

Good point. Did you check the battery in the console, or the connection to the ac adapter? I dont even know if this is possible, but could the console have had enough juice to produce a pressure reading, and talking to pc, yet not enough to recieve the ISS signal. I still dont like the fact that such a new setup is already experiencing issues like this.... Andrew In theory it could have been the console not picking up the ISS as opposed to the ISS not transmitting. I was going on the transmit icon on the console, which had stopped.

A friend of mine bought a Vue, and in six month time he got the ISS replaced TWO times because of the same issue. He also removed the battery for a few hours and his ISS also restarted, just to die again some weeks later. He has two consoles, and this confirms that it's the ISS that died on him multiple times. He has now bought (in exchange for the VUE ISS plus some money) a Pro2 wireless ISS, that he uses with his Vue consoles.

Yep, checked the console - mains powered. Couldn't see any obvious issues with it. Unplugged checked contacts etc and reconnected. I hope not! Don't want to splash out for more equipment.....yet! Fingers crossed it's sorted, even though I'm not at sure what the problem was/is. If it fails again, I'll pack it all off to the shop where I bought it from - still have 8 months warranty left.

Sheesh, it's a weather station!!
If anything should be built to handle damp, wet conditions, it should be a Vue. Anything short of underwater ought to be engineered to work for a weather station. I have one and I am really enjoying it, I would hate to think that I should worry about it getting wet, it has reported 26 inches of rain since it went up last Oct.

I just had this problem with my Vue. The ISS was transmitting fine but I kept getting the low battery message. I cleaned the battery contacts and replaced the battery, although the old battery was still at 3.0v. Problem continued. I then removed the battery and placed the ISS inside until the capacitor drained and quit transmitting. I cleaned the battery contacts again replaced the battery and everything has been fine for ~2 weeks now. I believe that I read somewhere on this forum that a "reboot" of the ISS is sometimes necessary to clear the low battery message. It worked for me.

OP is in UK, has to go through his dealer. Andrew call or email Davis! ...yes...but... "If you are outside the USA or Canada, please contact your local dealer or distributor first. Check our International Dealer list for a reseller in your country. Many of our overseas dealers and distributors have complete factory-authorized service centers, and are fully prepared to answer your inquiries. Please contact us only if you cannot get satisfaction from your dealer." There is hope!
