Cell phones to begin receiving severe weather alerts in first nationwide system

With the extreme weather the country has been experiencing, especially over the last year, wireless carriers and the federal government have teamed up and created a new system to automatically warn people of dangerous weather and other emergencies via a special type of text messaging to cell phones.

But, but, I like my weather radio! All the neat sounds it makes when a storm with golf ball sized hail is coming my way! And the sound of the voices when I turn it on.

Although I agree with Chris and like weather radios, I think for the average "Joe" that dosent have a weather radio, this will be a great tool to help save lives
