vws 14.01 p46 on windows 7 using Davis vantage pro2

on rare occassion (once every month? maybe a year that I have noticed this...  using multiple versions of vws) vws suddenly exits and closes down.  It has happened enough times for me to appear that it is terminated while doing microsoft and/or any other automatic updates and/or downloads to the software.  I admit I am unclear WHICH one is the offending one as it seems to jump around.

Is there a way to have the computer 'sniff' this out regularly (like once an hour) and if vws is NOT running, then to automatically launch/start vws?

I'm running that same config, no problems - however, I DO NOT let MS do anything "automatically". I selectively choose the time of update, I've had bad experiences in the past.

I understand that... for microsoft stuff.  but it is not only microsoft updates, but others, like java, virus software updates, etc.  I am tired of trying to hunt down which ones are causing the trouble.  Since it is only once a month (roughly), I want a fix that does them all.  Maybe it isn't even the updates that cause vws to tank.  I have NO proof of anything!  I just want a fix.

I have checked into using Task Manager.  But it appears I can create a task for already running processes, or executing a new process, but not for detecting the absence of a process.

any suggestions?

The only "auto" I allow is Avast AV. Seems I remember a discussion of some program to auto start maybe a year ago, I'll do some research, I'm already researching wind gust calculation.

Take a look at http://softwx.com/windows/startwatch.html

Would be an excellent choice but unfortunately, StartWatch isn't available for download at the moment.  Sad

Because of demands on my time related to health issues of a family member, I am temporarily removing StartWatch and VirtualVP from being available for download, and removing the registration pay buttons. If you are already running a trial of either program, send me an email at support@softwx.com at least a week before the trial expires and I will arrange for you to be able to continue using the program(s). If you are a registered user and need the install file to re-install, send me an email at the same address and I will email you the file(s).

Bummer.

You can still find Startwatch on various sites (Cnet etc.) and the trial version supports ONE application!
