3rd party leaf wetness sensor.

I want to add another leaf wetness sensor to my leaf/soil station. I'm curious about how a 3rd party leaf wetness sensor would do. Here's what I'm thinking

. The 2.00$ price tag is what really gets my attention. I have some cable I can wire this too but want advice from others before I try something that maybe risky. Obviously this is a different part with different specs and may not work well with the leaf/soil station. So any feedback will be appriciated. It would be great if someone has a wiring plot.

Well, after work last night I used a DMM to measure the cable and the gold plated traces on my Davis leaf wetness sensor. There is no direct connection between the cable and the traces. There were some high resistance readings, and one that looked like a cap charging. There must be some electronic components under the potting at the top of the board.
