I am doing some dev work for my day-time only webcam script and trying to convert an HTX file to a batch file using WL.  This is on a machine without a station attached (but .wlk files etc. are all there).  No Internet upload.  For some reason no files get loaded to the local machine.  Anyone have any ideas why?

Scenario's not clear really - to me at least. So not station attached, but you're expecting (presumably historic) data to get picked up from pre-existing wlk files and processed into an htm/html file?

Actually, I do not even need to get the data from the local .wlk files.  WHat I am trying to do is use an HTX template file to generate a .bat file and put it on the local  hard drive.  Does not seem to work.

Still not 100% clear. But you don't have 'Download weather station first' checked in the upload profile?

Sorry I am unclear.  I am trying to use an HTX file to create a  batch file.  On the local PC which has no Davis station attached (it is 400 miles away).  SO there is nothing to download. All I want WL to do is read the HTX and write a .bat.  Better?

To a schedule as defined in an Internet Settings Profile of WL? If you had the the Download first checked then this might be blocking the bat file creation. You probably don't have this checked - it was just a thought. Any errors showing in download.log? Any error dialogues showing on the WL screen main screen? Any sign that the profile is being triggered to schedule?

HTX File Description:

HTML document that uses the Microsoft Indexing Service; contains code (Tags) that defines how results from a database should be displayed within a Web page; often created with Microsoft FrontPage Web development software.

HTX files should be saved in the same directory as the corresponding Internet Database Connector (.IDC) file. They will only be processed by a Web server that supports Microsoft Indexing Service.

Ok now I feel better...

Johnn the profile is being executed.  I guess the question is this:  does a weather  station have ot be connected to WL to process an HTX file (to turn it into a .htm or other)?

Not in principle, AFAIK. The only issue would be - as I've been trying to suggest above - if you have some other station-dependent process scheduled as part of the same profile, eg 'download station first'. Presumably you do have the .htx file included in the 'Template files to process' box? If there are no errors then are you absolutely sure that the expected file is being created, but just not in the expected folder? You could search for the bat file or check the Local folder etc path settings.

Checked everywhere.  The log file says device not found, plug in station and then unable to load due to (those) errors.  Clearly the station MUST be attached.  What the??

I must be dense... I still don't understand what the batch file is doing and why it needs to be created. I use batch files a LOT so I might be able to help if I better understand what all of this is doing.

Sorry for not explaining this more clearly.  I wrote a WL template file (.htx) that  gets processed by WL to generate a DOS batch file.  The batch file will be executed will be  run hourly by the Windows Scheduler.  The batch file will compare the current time to see if it is between sunrise and sunset and then execute a command line webcam capture program.  That way I don't get shots at night.  Smile

The issue seems to be that  unless the console is attached, the local copy does not get save.  My wx station is hundreds of miles away and I do not have a station here.  I hoped to test  here and then upload (via Teamviewer) rather than do all the development over TV, remotely.  Make sense?

So you are using WL to convert the variables in the htx template to the sunrise and sunset times for use by the batch file.

I have my Sebetec software to run from 6am until 9pm at night. That pretty much covers all of the daylight hours and I can easily change the times if need be.

Yes - .htx --> .bat

6 Am to 9 PM will not work up north without regular tweaking of the time(s).

Don't you really need something like BMCT and EECT?  Or dawn and dusk?
