mckTXaws, sorry that I didn't mention this earlier, but you should be developing your degree-day database for the ag/turf module during your first growing season.

You can get a start by looking for published degree-day values for various plants and pests on line and using that info; however, those values will usually need to be adjusted for your local conditions.  I simply watch all plants and pests and then add a new degree-day category whenever I see some condition I want to record, e.g., first appearance of leaves after winter, first flowering of a plant, beginning of full bloom, first pest appearance, etc.

When I had a vegetable garden, I recorded first flowering and harvest points for the various plants.

You build your degree-day data base during the first year using the ag/turf module and then fine tune adjust it in later years.  Once developed, the data base is quite useful in forecasting plant/pest development.  Especially in years when the spring weather is unusually warm or cold and the typical appearance time of plant/pests is advanced or retarded.

People always talk about the weather, but they never do anything about it.  Not me.  I'm gonna measure it.  www.tceweather.com
