First of all, let me just say that I am almost finished with my degree in Atmospheric Science so I will be a legit meteorologist, not JUST a storm chaser, but I love to storm chase. It's exciting watching the uncontrollable nature do it's thing. BUT I got this degree also to learn how to predict these events and warn the public. That is the main reason for studying and chasing storms. If we weren't here no one would ever know a severe thunderstorm or tornado was on its way. I'll even include fire weather warnings to this. We also issue those so no one accidentally starts a massive fire on dry windy days and is clueless about it. So please stop complaining about storm chasers. We do it to protect and study. The more chasers there are, the more the public will be aware of what's headed their way.

Nobody complains about valid chasers.  They do, however, complain about the chasers who do it for the thrill.  Stay off the damned road if you're going to do that.

And wouldn't you agree that the more chasers and thrill-seekers there are, it creates a safety issue when they are all chasing the same thing?

Yes there certainly can be a safety issue, but it's a free country and people can do whatever they want.  Complaining about it won't change it.

I do actually completely agree with the safety issue... There are a ton of chasers all piling on one road sometimes. A lot of them are just random people that want to watch the storm. They aren't doing anything to help the public.

Never said it wasn't a free country.  But it isn't as free when you are jeopardizing others' lives.  As some of these chuckleheads do.

Isn't this only the second time that a high risk has been established??

No, not hardly.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_SPC_high-risk_days

It IS only the second time a High Risk has been posted for the Day 2 Outlook.

Exactly.  The lookey-loos need to stay the hell home.  If one gets in the way and impedes a responding emergency vehicle, I hope they get charged criminally.

I tend to defer to him when it comes to this sort of thing and he says "high risk, high bust possibility.  Will be something significant tomorrow, but how much is unsure."

I always keep that in the back of my head too.  I've seen a few 'busts'.  That's a big reason why I don't play into a lot of the 'excitement'.

Definitely need to heighten awareness, but not overdo it.

Ugh, I have a baseball game to attend tonight.  They say ours won't really get started until after 10, so I hope it holds off until then.

I can tell you though after going outside at lunch (I am at the office) that the air is quite...'soupy'.  Not sure what the MCAPE values are, but bet they're starting to rise.

This is not what you want to hear:

TORANDO REPORT:

Location: Norman, OK

"MULTIPLE SIGHTNINGS OF A TORNADO IN NORMAN. MULTIPLE REPORTS OF DAMAGE AND POSSIBLE INJURIES."

That area is getting ready to get hit with another bad storm Sad
