Q: is "sea-level barometer" input required for WL?

As I was walked through the "Setup" procedure, the "Set Barometer" input asked for two inputs: Station Elevation in feet and Sea-level Barometer in inches. So, I entered what I knew: Station Elevation = 2330 ft. but I left the Sea-Level Barometer entry 'blank' because I didn't know what value to enter.

So-o-o-o-o, what *should* I enter there, if required, or can I leave it empty without causing problems? I'm at 2330 ft and the main weather station is located at the airport at 2641 ft about 25 miles away!

IF you have a Davis Vantage product, plug your station elevation into the console, give it a few hours settle in (actually about 24 hours) and read the barometric pressure (SLP) on the console.

FWIW, barometric pressure has such a low gradient that the airport pressure (@ 25 miles) would be very close. The problem is airports use altimeter pressure and not all report both.

You might find this usful to some extent.

3 airports close to you report Altimeter...KRYN, KDMA,KTUS. Two of these also report SLP in their METARS,....KDMA AND KTUS

Hope you know how to read them as the info is there.
