I have been  bothered with wind recently. Razz

I run La Crosse WS 2350 for a couple of years now .  www.quinn008.eu
A few days ago I got a false wind spike reading of 178 km /hr and then a few more similar readings. Since then my anemometer has not reported at all just sitting at 0 degrees with no speed.

Physically it is pointing correctly and the cups spinning.

I have done the basics eg battery changes inside and out, cleaned and checked cable fitments, re boot but to no avail !

Taking into account the anemometer is some 30ft up, how can I check if its the anemometer or the THERMO-HYGROMTERIC TRANSMITTER ?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Is there a chance rain got inside the wind sensor? The reason I ask this is my wired ws-2310 has run fine since 2005 (other than house grounding issues) and recently I had the same symptoms you describe. It turned out that over the years the sun had dried the plastic to the point of creating a small fracture near one of the screws holding it sealed. I dried it out and applied silicon RTV around the case seal and in the fracture before reassembling it.. I also added a small piece of metal tape over the wind vane cap on top. Luckily it came back to life after that and has been running fine since then..

Another thing I've seen is over time the RJ-11 internal contacts can lose their connection with the cable. By placing the connector down on a firm surface with the contacts pointing up I used a knife to press each contact down into their wire. This doesn't sound like your problem though.

Hope you get it back.
